 Games are a vocabulary learning tool because they allow for interaction,
cooperation and creativity.
 Games provide fun comprehension that can aid word memorization.
 Students develop interpersonal skills and confidence to speak the new language
they are learning.
 Fun and relaxation promote learning.
 Decision-making without risk of real failure helps the learner explore new
alternatives.
 They create an environment conducive to using the new language among
learners.
 Friendly competition among peers maintains motivation and engagement.
 Interactive learning brings social, memory and performance benefits.
 Memorizing vocabulary is not effective in the long run.
 The context that games promote makes learning interactive and words are used
fluently.
 Words are the cells of language; they are the primordial unit.
 Vocabulary becomes more important than grammar because of its
communicative aspects.
 A good oral communication is not possible without a good vocabulary.
 Technological tools such as internet, computer games, movies, series and music
can be allies to learn vocabulary.
 The games used can be divided into: Linguistic games: precision, and
communicative games: exchange of information and ideas.
 Games allow practicing linguistic skills and abilities, as well as understanding
new concepts.
 Vocabulary requires the ability to use words at the right times and in the right
contexts.
 One of the greatest advantages of learning through games is that they take
away the pressure to get it right.
 Teachers need a calm environment so in these cases games are not the first
choice.
 The effectiveness of learning games can be reduced if they are too complicated.
 Games that can be used to learn vocabulary: matching games, guessing games,
crossword puzzles, etc.
 The research gives us new directions to follow in the areas of language
teaching, games are often not taken into account for thinking that it is
something little serious, the perspectives shown call us to reflection, the
complicated is not always the best, simplicity in teaching can be much more
effective.
