Proses penerbitan B/L diawali dengan shipper melakukan perjanjian tertulis tentang
hak kuasa kepada pihak forwarder, dilanjutkan dengan shipper melakukan booking
container, costumer service akan menerima dokumen SI (Shipping Instruction)
sebagai dasar pembuatan B/L, kemudian diterbitkan D/O, untuk mendapatkan
container kosong atau empty container, melakukan pembayaran ketika sudah
mendapatkan jadwal keberangkatan kapal, membuat shipping request dan
menerbitkan draft B/L, ketika draft B/L disetujui dan tidak ada koreksi dari pihak
shipper bisa dilanjutkan dengan penerbitan dokumen B/L.
Dokumen B/L biasanya diterbitkan asli dalam 3 lembar dan semua salinan dari yang
asli ditandatangani. Jumlah B/L asli harus dinyatakan di dalam dokumen B/L, ketika
Letter of Credit (L/C) meminta full set B/L artinya semua dokumen B/L yang asli dan
salinannya harus ditandatangani, dan semuanya harus diserahkan kepada pihak bank.
Di Indonesia penerbitan B/L berjumlah 3 lembar asli, maka pengertian full set B/L
sama artinya dengan menerima 3 asli B/L. Tapi pada kenyataanya jumlah full set B/L
bisa 5, 6, atau 7 bahkan lebih tergantung permintaan shipper saat mengajukan
shipping instruction pada perusahaan perkapalan.

Can you explain about the types of bill of lading?
There are various types, including House B/L, Through B/L, and Combined Transport
B/L.
• House B/L. Type of B/L issued by expedition service companies as forwarding.
• Through B/L. Type of B/L issued by the shipping company from the Port of
Loading (manufacture location) to the Port of Discharge (place of unloading cargo);
• Combined Transport B/L. The B/L type is a shipping document that contains the
stages of transporting goods using more than one type of transportation. In it there is
data such as the transportation operator or carrier who will transport the goods to the
loading area and take them to the destination location.

What is the difference between cargo manifest and EIR?

Cargo Manifest is a detailed description of goods transported by ship. So this is a list


of items from all bills of lading of the goods carried by the ship and explained in
detail. The contents of the cargo manifest are:
- name of the carrier, shipping number,
- All important details are recorded in each bill of lading. These include:
a. name of the sender, recipient of the goods, and the notifying party;
b. description of goods;
c. container number;
d. seal number;
e. agreed payment method for sea freight.

EIR is a shipping document issued by shipping depots to expedition and trucking


service companies. Equipment Interchange Receipts contain various information, one
of which is damage found to the container to make it easier to identify the responsible
party. This document is divided into two types, namely the EIR port of origin and port
of destination containing a list of container numbers, ship and shipping codes, storage
positions and stacking positions.

Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) function:

a. Authentic proof of the physical condition of the container at the time of cargo
handover.
b. Proof of handover from customer to Depo, Container Yard (CY), Loading and
Unloading Company (PBM) or vice versa.
c. For settlement or collection of security deposit for shipping.
d. Data supporting the claim in or out process.
e. Included as minutes of container handover.
