ACTIVITY SHEET
PROBABILITY
2. A pair of students will throw the dice (Die I and Die II) alternatively and note their respective
outcomes.
3. Let us assume that one pair of student observes that number 2 appears on die I and number 6
appears on die II. This outcome is recorded as (2, 6).
4. Now the students will exchange their dice and throw them again. Now let us assume that number
6 appears on die I and number 2 appears on die II. This outcome is recorded as (6, 2).
Score on Die I
1 2 3 4 5 6
1 1,1 1,2 1,3 1,4 1,5 1,6
7. Students will mark those outcomes whose sum is 10 from above table.
Observation: Total outcome on throwing two dice = 36
No. of outcomes whose sum is 10 (favourable outcomes) = 3
Find the probability of getting the following by throwing two dice simultaneously:
i) Prime numbers on both dice
ii) Number greater than 3 on both the dice

6 1
अतः P(अनुकूल पररणामों की संख्या) = =

Example 1: A gray die and a blue die are thrown together. Write all the possible outcomes. What is the
probability that the sum of the numbers on both the dice is 8?
5
Hence P(number of favorable outcomes) =
36
Example2: Two dice are thrown at the same time. Find the probability that the product is a prime number.
Solution:
should be 2, 3 or 5
Hence the favorable result for “The product of the numbers on both dice is a prime number” is:
𝟔 𝟑 P(एक ईट क रानी ) =
P(एक लाल त वीर वाला प ा) = =

Example 1: One card is drawn from a well-shuffled Example 2: King, Queen and Jack of clubs are
deck of 52 cards. Calculate the probability removed from a deck of 52 playing
that the card will be cards and the remaining cards are
(i) an ace (ii) not an ace shuffled. A card is drawn from a
(iii) a king remaining cards. Find the probability
of getting a card of:
Solution: Number of all possible outcomes = 52 (a) Heart (b) Queen (c)Club
(i) Number of an ace in the cards = 4 Solution: Number of all possible outcomes
52 – 3 = 49
P(an ace) = = (a) number of Hearts = 13
Example 3: The King, Queen, Jack, 10 and all of hearts are lost from a pack of 52 playing cards. A card is
drawn from the remaining well-shuffled pack. Find the probability of getting:
(i)Queen (ii) Red card (iii) Black card.
Solution: Number of all possible outcomes = Total cards – [hearts except king, queen, jack and 10(9) +
kings(4) + queens(4)+ jacks(4) + number 10 cards(4)]
= 52 – 25 = 27
(i) Total number of queen left = 0
