MOTHERBOARD

Hello Everyone, I am Nadia Faza. here I will present about the Motherboard.

A motherboard is like a computer's central nervous system. It's the main circuit board that
connects all the essential components, such as the CPU, memory, storage devices, and other
peripherals. Think of it as the backbone of a computer, allowing these parts to communicate and
work together.
A motherboard is the main printed circuit board (PCB) in a computer. The motherboard is a
computer's central communications backbone connectivity point, through which all components
and external peripherals connect. Motherboard manufacturers include Acer, ASRock, Asus,
Gigabyte Technology, Intel and Micro-Star International.

Motherboards can be found in virtually all computers, especially desktop and laptop PCs. The
components that connect through them include chipsets, central processing units (CPU) and
memory. The external peripherals include Wi-Fi, Ethernet and graphics cards with the graphics
processing unit, or GPU.
What is the types of Motherboard?

1. AT Motherboard
These motherboards have bigger physical dimensions of hundreds of millimeters and
hence they are not the right fit for the mini desktop category of computers.
2. ATX Motherboard
ATX denotes Advanced technology extended, it was developed by Intel during the 1990s
and it was an improved version over an earlier version of AT motherboard.
3. LPX Motherboard
This board had two improvements over earlier versions.
4. BTX Motherboard
BTX denotes Balanced Technology Extended, intended to manage demands of new
technologies in terms of more power requirements hence generation of more heat.
5. Pico BTX motherboard
These boards are smaller in size and hence the word Pico.
6. Mini ITX motherboard
It’s a miniature version of motherboard over its earlier versions.
What is the characteristics of Motherboard?
1. Form factor
Refers to the Motherboard’s geometry, dimensions, location of ports and type of power
supply
2. Chipset
it controls the resources of the computer
3. Processor socket
It is a rectangular or square shaped connector in which the processor is directly inserted
