TEST1 WRITING TASK1

The line graph provides information about the percentage of the total people
who live in cities in four different Asian countries between 1970 and 2040.
Overall, we can see an upward trend throughout the given period and an
increasing rate for each country’s population. This increase is expected to
continue into the future and by 2040, Malaysia will show dominance over
other countries.

In 1970 around 30% of the residents of Malaysia and the Philippines lived in
urban areas. By 2020, Malaysia had experienced a dramatic growth and it
reached almost 80% city population and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop
there; though the Philippines population couldn’t reach any higher
percentages than 50. The Philippines even faced a decrease in their population
between 1990 and 2010.

The number of population in urban areas in Thailand was near 20% in 1970.
While Indonesia had almost 15% of its residents living in cities. However, when
we look at the graph we can see a rapid growth in Indonesia’s city population.
Surpassing 50% by 2020 and reaching almost 70% until 2040, while Thailand
only reached 30%. But we can estimate that the population in Thailand will
experience a great rise.
