UNIVERSAL ROBOTIC CHALLENGE (URC) 2023
Updated: 31 March 2023 (V3)

4. COMPETITION FORMAT
● The competition will be conducted through a gamified web-based simulation.
● Contestants who subscribe to the GoTechUp x ArtecRobo URC2023 simulation will
be given access to Practice Lessons up to 3 days before the Competition Day.
● The competition for each category consists of TWO stages:
o Qualifier Stage
o Final Stage
● Access to Qualifier Stage and Final Stage for each category will be available on the
COMPETITION DAY based on the Competition Time respectively.
● The game system will allow access to the respective competition map for up to 120
minutes (2 hours) from the Competition Time.
● The estimated game play is 60 minutes (1 hour).
o If a participant enters or starts later than the stated time, only the remaining
game time will be available for the participant.
● The contestant’s mission for each stage will end if the following situations occur:
o Once contestants enter the Final Portal, the time recorded at this score will be
the completion time for the round.
o Contestants were disconnected or logged out and failed to re-enter the game
within the competition time. After 2 hours, the entry to the game will be
disabled.
o The game system will be open for up to 2 hours. A “Time’s Up” pop up will
appear if contestants did not conclude the game after 2 hours from
competition time.

5. SCORING AND RANKING

● Ranks are calculated based on the HIGHEST SCORE after competition ends (at 2 hours
after Competition Time).
● There will be 3 Sections for every stage and contestants will have to pass Checkpoint
1, Checkpoint 2, and the final Checkpoint 3 (Final Portal).
● Each checkpoint serves as a recording of scores. Once ArtecRobo reaches the
checkpoint, contestant marks will be secured, and the programming block will be
reset.
o The system will override scores every time the robot passes the Checkpoint.
● In the event that the robot does not reach the Checkpoint 3 (Final Portal), only the
score collected at the earlier Checkpoints (Checkpoints 1 and 2) is recorded.
● Contestants will receive additional 50 scores at the end of the game if they
successfully complete and reach the Final Portal at Section 3. No additional scores
will be awarded if the contestant didn’t reach the Final Portal.
● Bonus 100 scores will be awarded if contestants successfully complete and reach the
Checkpoint 3 (Final Portal) within 1 hour.
