Hydropower:
The majority of Egypt's electricity supply is generated
from thermal and hydropower stations. The four
main hydroelectric generating stations currently
operating in Egypt are:
• the Aswan Low Dam
• the Esna Dam
• the Aswan High Dam
• and the Naga Hamady Barrages
• The Asyut Barrage hydropower plant

Water Generates Electricity:

It needs narrow water way with suitable width so
it is impossible to build in seas. We choose a
location with suitable properties for the dam as
it need a channel for storing
It depends on the height of the dam and
the amount of water.

Advantages of Hydroelectric
Energy:
1. clean source

2. running cost is low

3. operating cost is zero

4. efficiency is high

5. simple

6. energy cost is low

7. life time is high

8. Renewable.

9. maintenance cost is low

Disadvantages of Hydroelectric
Energy

1. Availability of water source

2. Capital cost is high

3. Water problems

Construction:

We should know what we need!!

In hydroelectric power station the
output is electrical power from
generator.
It consists of generators and turbines

Solar
Egypt has a high solar availability as a result of it hot
desert climate. The total capacity of
installed photovoltaic systems is about 4.5 MWp.
They are used in remote areas for water pumping,
desalination, rural clinics, telecommunications, rural
village electrification, etc.[41] The proposed large-scale
solar power project Desertec also involves Egypt.
In some areas, the country receives over 4,000 hours
of sunshine per year, which is among the highest
quantities registered in the world. Due to the sharp
population growth and a series of blackouts during the
summer caused by a supply shortage, Egyptian
demand for solar energy is increasing. However, only
1% of the electricity is produced by solar energy. The
majority of solar energy available in the country
derives from small-scale projects. Modestly-sized
projects, up to 10 MW, are constituted by hybrid
solar/diesel solutions, which are developed by the
Emirati Company Masdar.
Egypt is currently building the biggest solar
installation in the world, Benban Solar Park, which will
generate 1.8 GW to power 1 million homes and is
expected to be completed in 2019.

Solar Power Advantages

1. Solar power is pollution free and causes no greenhouse
gases to be emitted after installation
Reduced dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels
2. Renewable clean power that is available every day of
the year, even cloudy days produce some power
3. Return on investment unlike paying for utility bills
4. Virtually no maintenance as solar panels last over 30
years
5. Creates jobs by employing solar panel manufacturers,
solar installers, etc. and in turn helps the economy
6. Excess power can be sold back to the power company
if grid intertied
7. Ability to live grid free if all power generated provides
enough for the home / building
8. Can be installed virtually anywhere; in a field to on a
building
9. Use batteries to store extra power for use at nigh
10. Use batteries to store extra power for use at night
11. Solar can be used to heat water, power homes
and building, even power cars
12. Safer than traditional electric current
13. Efficiency is always improving so the same size
solar that is available today will become more efficient
tomorrow
14. Aesthetics are improving making the solar more
versatile compared to older models; i.e. printing,
flexible, solar shingles, etc.

Solar Power Disadvantages

1. High initial costs for material and installation and
long ROI
2.
Needs lots of space as efficiency is not 100%
yet
3. No solar power at night so there is a need for
a large battery bank
4. Some people think they are ugly (I am
definitely not one of those!)
5. Devices that run on DC power directly are
more expensive
6. Depending on geographical location the size
of the solar panels vary for the same power
generation
7. Cloudy days do not produce much energy
8. Solar panels are not being massed produced
due to lack of material and technology to lower
the cost enough to be more affordable
9. Solar powered cars do not have the same
speeds and power as typical gas powered
cars
10. Lower production in the winter months

WIND
Egypt has a high potential for wind energy, especially
in the Red Sea coast area. As of 2006, 230 MW of
wind energy was installed, with additional 320 MW to
be installed by 2009.[45] In 2009, 430 MW of wind
power were installed The Supreme Council of
Energy's goal of increasing renewable energy is to
20% by 2020 is expected to be reached for a
significant part through the development of wind
power. Wind power is expected to reach 12% (a
power capacity of about 7200 MW) of total electricity
output with hydro (100 MW of CSP power) and solar
(1 MW of PV power) making up the remaining 8%

Advantages of Wind Energy:

• Clean & Environment friendly Fuel source
• Renewable & Sustainable
• Cost Industrial and Domestic
• Installation Effective
• Job Creation

Disadvantages of Wind Energy

• Fluctuation of Wind and Good wind sit
• Noise and aesthetic pollution
• Not a profitable use of land
• Threat to wildlife

Bio Mass:
1_ we take the organic materials
under high pressure and steam so
biogas will get out.
We can use it directly like steam
power station and indirectly in houses
as natural gas.

By separating the car tiers and

agricultural wastes we get more than
compound “bio gas and bio fuel”

******
Tidal “ocean energy system”:

It use the motion of waves to convert

it to electrical linear motion
It use a turbine in the water on a chosen
height and a generator on a boat but now we
use sup morcapole E it transfer mechanical
power to the generator under water
