How does hydroelectric work?

Generators powered by turbines turn the potential energy of falling water into
mechanical energy, resulting in electricity. Water is collected or stored at a higher
elevation and afterwards transported to a lower elevation via huge pipes or tunnels. The
difference between these two altitudes is known as the head. The falling water forces
turbines to whirl at the end of its journey through the pipes. Turbines drive generators,
which convert the mechanical energy of the turbines into electricity.
It creates electricity by altering the natural flow of a river or other body of water through
the use of a dam or diversion construction. To generate electricity, hydropower uses the
unending, constantly replenishing system of the water cycle, which uses fuel-water-that
is neither diminished or eliminated in the process.
Advantages:
1. Hydroelectricity can create electricity without releasing greenhouse gases into
the atmosphere.
2. Hydroelectricity is a highly dependable source of renewable energy
3. This form of power generation is very safe.
Disadvantages:
1. Land usage, housing, and natural habitats in the dam region may be impacted by
hydropower infrastructure.
2. Hydroelectricity is reliant on the flow of water. The system is reliant on
precipitation amounts, which might vary from year to year, resulting in insecurity.
3. These facilities can result in the loss or change of fish habitat, as well as fish
entrapment and passage restriction.

Is hydroelectric renewable?
The energy created by hydropower is renewable since it is based on the water cycle,
which is powered by the sun.

magat dam
- Magat Dam is a major rock-fill dam. The dam is on the Magat River, which is a
significant
tributary of the cagayan river. the dam's construction began in 1975
and was finished in 1982.
agusan 2 hydroelectric power plant
- the agusan hydroelectic plant was built at damilag, manolo fortich,
bukidnon, as the downstream facility of two intended plants, to meet the
area's immediate and industrial needs.

Geothermal energy is a type of renewable energy taken from the Earth’s core. It comes
from heat generated during the original formation of the planet and the radioactive
decay of materials. How does geothermal works
- Geothermal heating works by moving temperature-conducting fluid through an
underground loop of pipes beneath or near your home.
- As air is circulated through your house, your heat pump removes heat from the air and
transfer it to the fluid that circulates to the ground.

•Advantages of using geothermal

- geothermal energy is more environmentally friendly than conventional fuel sources
such as coal and other fossils fuels.
-geothermal provides a reliable source of energy as compared to other renewable
resources such as wind and solar power.

Disadvantages of geothermal energy

Geothermal power plants can only be built in specific sites.
Geothermal facilities have high upfront construction costs
Geothermal plants can cause earthquakes

How does solar energy works?

- Solar energy works when it captures the sun’s energy and converts it into
electricity that can support a house, car, or business. The sun continuously releases tiny
packets of energy called photons. Several photons can reach the earth that it can
support the world’s energy needs.
Every array is made up of several solar panels, and every single solar panel is made up
of several cells. And those cells are responsible in converting the sun’s photons into
electricity.
Solar cells are made up of silicon. Every time the photons hit the silicon; it transfers the
energy to loosen silicon electrons. Then those electrons are then transported into an
electric current.

Advantages:
- Solar power is pollution-free, and it causes no greenhouse gases to be
discharged after installation.
- It can reduce the dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels.
- Return on investment unlike paying for utility bills.
Disadvantages:
- During cloudy days it does not produce as much energy.
- No solar power at night so there is a need for a large battery bank.
- It needs a lot of space as efficiency is not 100%.

Is solar energy renewable?

- Solar energy is a renewable resource, it won’t ever run out of supply, because
we only need the sun for our solar panels to work.

how it works wind energy
On the occasion of mechanical energy enhances a unit by mean of harnessing wind
power, it may be called a windmill, wind pump or wind charger. The wind energy can be
used for anything from power on boats, battery charging or electricity to being used
Wind turbines use blades to collect the wind kinetic energy. And is the energy
harnessed from the flow of the air.

advantage
- Wind energy offers many advantages, which explains why it's one of the fastest-
growing energy sources in the world. Efforts are aimed at addressing the challenges to
greater use of wind energy. And we really need it in the light of the fact
Wind is a reliable and infinite renewable energy resource
-Wind energy is cost effective, and prices are dropping still.
Offshore wind farms can take advantage of offshore wind flow, without affecting the
landscape view.

disadvantage
- Wind energy or wind power is energy captured from the moving air to generate
electricity. The wind has kinetic energy. The kinetic energy is converted into the
mechanical energy using a turbine. The mechanical energy can be utilized for
numerous purposes including pumping water and grinding grain. Better still the
mechanical energy can be converted into electricity using the generator to power
schools, homes, and businesses.
- Wind energy can be unpredictable as the amount of electricity generated is dependent
on the speed and direction of the wind
Wind farms can affect the visual appearance of the landscape
Wind turbines can damage the habitats of birds and marine life.
