3rd November 2023,

Dear Parent/Carer,

Tyla Luba 10Be

As part of the school’s ongoing commitment to literacy, we have invested in a digital literacy
improvement platform called Bedrock Learning, which we will be using as part of our
curriculum to teach students the language skills they need to succeed and excel at school
and beyond – with specific focuses on vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing.

As your child progresses through the curriculum they will study hundreds of words,
whilst reading fiction and non-fiction texts regularly.

As their parent/carer, you can follow their progress by viewing their Knowledge
Organiser within the Bedrock platform. You can also receive weekly progress reports
on your child’s progress via email when you create your Bedrock parent account.

To create your Bedrock Learning Parent Account:

● Step 1: Visit app.bedrocklearning.org

● Step 2: Click on the ‘Guardian sign up’ button, then click ‘School access
code’.
● Step 3: Complete the Guardian sign-up form and enter your child’s access
code: 9b6a2028
● Step 4: Check your email for your password and log in (be sure to check your
junk folder if no email arrives).

Your child’s username is: tyla.luba.226921

Your child’s password is: BreadCoat

You can find out more information about Bedrock Learning at

www.bedrocklearning.org. You can also find additional help for parents at
help.bedrocklearning.org.
As you can understand, these initiatives have a greater impact if they are supported at
home. Students will be set Bedrock homework, but I urge you to use this for your child
when they tell you they have “no homework” or that all the work is completed.
Educational research suggests that students with a broad and varied vocabulary tend
to be successful throughout their education and in later life.

We will also be doing Bedrock learning as part of our Period 1 registration time. Can I
also ask you to ensure that your child brings their own Chromebook (Years 7-9
only) to every morning Bedrock session as outlined below. Year 10 students will
be using the school computer rooms and Chromebooks to access Bedrock in their
sessions.

Year 7 Every Tuesday period 1

Year 8 Every Wednesday period 1
Year 9 Every Thursday period 1
Year 10 Every Friday period 1

We will be monitoring student progress in school and rewarding students for their
perseverance and endeavour with Bedrock. I hope that they will find this an exciting
and challenging opportunity to develop their literacy skills and progress in all areas of
the curriculum.
