OBJECTIVES

General Objectives:

After the case study, the nursing students will be able to acquire new
knowledge, enhance basic skills and develop desirable attitudes towards the
care of a patient with chronic calculous cholecystitis through the utilization of
the nursing process.

Specifically, we will be able to:

Knowledge:

 Define terminologies related to chronic calculous cholecystitis

 Discuss and explain the etiology, clinical signs and symptoms, diagnostic
procedures, and management of a patient with chronic calculous
cholecystitis ;

 Discuss the Anatomy and Physiology of the gastrointestinal system;

 Explain the Pathophysiology of chronic calculous cholecystitis ;

 Identify and explain the drugs used to treat chronic calculous cholecystitis
;

 List the Nursing responsibilities in caring for a patient with a chronic

calculous cholecystitis ;

 • Identify the deviation of laboratory results and its significance.

 Assess and classify gathered data relevant to the patient’s condition;

 Formulate nursing diagnosis specific to the identified health problem;

 Plan a care specific to the patient identified health problems;

 Implement the plan of care for the patient;

 Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care rendered;

 Formulate a Concept Map;

Attitude:

 Acknowledge the patient’s expression of feelings and emotion;

 Observe courtesy at all times to the patient and to all the members of the
health care team;

 Establish rapport and promote cooperation through nurse-patient

interaction.
