Bio Amplifiers

Requirements :
• Av should be > 100dB
• Gain should be constant over the entire bandwidth
• O/p impedance must be small
• I/p impedance must > 2 M Ὡ
• CMRR must be > 80dB
Types:
1. Differential amplifier
2. Instrumentation amplifier
3. Chopper amplifier
4. Isolation amplifier
(i) Differential Amplifier

Vo = Va-Vb
(ii) Instrumentation amplifier
• It is used to provide high Gain
and High Impedance
• Amplifier 1 ans 2 are
configured as Non Inverting
amplifier
• Amplifier 3 is configured as
Differential amplifier
Advantages:
• Extremely high i/p impedance
• CMRR is high
• High Gain
(iii) Chopper Amplifier
•In this amplifier, The Analog signal which is of very low frequency is
chopped in to square pulses of high frequency which is equal to the
chopping rate
•It is then processed and converted back to its original form
•The only constraint is that the chopping rate must be at-least 10 times
greater than the highest frequency of the signal under measurement
•There are two types of Chopping amplifiers
(i) Mechanical Chopper amplifier
(ii) Non mechanical Chopper amplifier
Chopper amplifier with mechanical switch
Electronic Chopper amplifier
(iv) Isolation AMplifier
• To prevent situations like internal cardiac isolation amplifiers are used
• The isolation amplifiers have very high isolation between the input
and the output
