    Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that causes the progressive accumulation of toxic proteins like beta amyloid plaques and tau tangles between neurons, damaging brain functions related to memory, reasoning, social behavior, language, and daily living. It results from the death of brain cells and affects areas of the brain related to memory and cognition. The accumulation of plaques and tangles in the brain is believed to stem from the abnormal buildup of proteins or fatty molecules that can leak into the brain from the bloodstream. There are also genetic and vascular risk factors that can contribute to the development and progression of Alzheimer's disease. Currently, there is no cure and treatment aims to temporarily slow the worsening of symptoms.
