SPECIAL PRODUCTS

Products of some polynomials have forms that are easy to recognize. These are
called special products and can be obtained by short cut ways. These products are:
A. Product of two binomials having similar terms,
B. Product of the sum and difference of the same binomial,
C. The square of a binomial,
D. The square of a trinomial,
E. The cube of the sum or difference of a binomial, and
F. The product of a binomial and a trinomial leading to the difference or sum of
cubes.

Product of two binomials having similar terms

Foil Method: Product of the first terms, plus product of the first and end terms, plus
product of the middle terms, and product of the end terms. The sum or difference of
the products of the middle terms and end terms may be calculated mentally.

Square of a Binomial
The square of the sum of a binomial is equal to the sum of the squares of the terms
plus twice the product of the terms.
