CAMPUSTRACK: TECHNOLOGY – 2003

A PROPOSAL NOTE

Why Campustrack – Technology ?


ACN ORG-MARG has been conducting Campustrack, a study among students of Top
20 B-Schools, for the previous three years. The study was designed to provide the
recruiting organizations with information that can provide competitive edge to attract the
desired management talent. Some snippets from the study published in leading
newspapers are given below:

In order to have a more holistic understanding of the talent pool in India, ACN ORG-
MARG is now planning to conduct a similar study among the students of Top 20
Engineering Colleges – Campustrack: Technology - 2003.

Some Information Areas of Campustrack – Technology


 Which are the ‘dream companies’ to the students?
 Which industries are being preferred by students?
 What is the extent of familiarity and the overall perception of the companies as
recruiters?
 What are the parameters on which the students evaluate the companies and how
important is each parameter?
 Where do the companies stand on each of the above parameters?
 What are the sources from which the students form their perceptions about the
companies?

Sample Design
Students of 20 reputed Engineering Colleges/ Technological Institutes who are to
graduate in 2004 would be contacted for face-to-face interviews.

Premier Institutes (50 students from each of the Top 8 400
institutes)
Not-so-premier Institutes (25 students each from rest 300
of the 12 institutes)
TOTAL 700
The Top 8 Premier institutes will be the five IITs (IIT-Kanpur IIT-Delhi, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-
Chennai and IIT-Powai), BITS-Pilani, Roorkee and IISc-Bangalore. The complete list of
institutes is given in the Annexure.

Quotas will be kept for students specializing in Computer Science, Electronics, MCA,
Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Production, Civil and other streams of Engineering.

What will be the key deliverables ?


 Where do I currently stand in the eyes of the talent pool?
 How am I perceived in terms of the different parameters used by the students to
gauge the Companies?
 How am I perceived vis-à-vis competition among my core target group?
 What are my key Strengths and Weaknesses as a recruiter?
 What is the profile of the students who are favourably disposed towards me?
 Which are the sources from which the students derive information about the
recruiter? And thus, what communication channel should I use to improve my
perception among the students?

Cost
The proposed cost of the Campustrack: Technology report will be Rs. 75,000/- (50%
payable in advance and 50% after submission of final report).

For Clients subscribing to Campustrack: Technology and Campustrack: B-School


(which is to be conducted during August 2003), the total cost will be Rs. 1,30,000/-.
In addition to these, service tax would be charged as per Govt. of India norms.

Field work timing


The Fieldwork for the study has been done during April – May 2003.

Report
The detailed report is available to all the Clients from July 2003. This would help the
Clients have a picture of their standing before they plan campus recruitment for the
batch of 2004.
