40x53 mm HEDP-SD

DESCRIPTION

The grenade HEDP-SD cal. 40 mm is a high speed and high

explosive projectile with the combined effect of piercing
50mm thick armour and of generating sharpnels. The
grenade features a fuze having a self-destructive action in
order to minimize the number of unexploded bombs on the
field. The round of grenades comes in belts of 32 pieces,
packed in steel boxes.
The belt-fed automatic grenade launcher US MK19 Mod 3
is used to fire the 40x53 mm grenades.

GRENADE EFFECTIVENESS

The grenade is highly effective against human targets

thanks to its high explosiveness and to the generation of
fragments. The inner surface of the steel body is preformed in the shape of small hexagones forming
fracture lines that will generate fragments during the explosion: thanks to this configuration, fragments
and shards spread uniformily within a lethal range of 5 meters. Moreover, the effect of the shaped charge
is to blow a hole and to destroy armored vehicles. The high speed of the grenade and its aerodynamics
ensure high accuracy too. All of these features assure a uniform trajectory for optimal target engagement.
