VICTIM

I am an officer from the Guardia Civil and I am here to help you, please sit down,
try to keep calm as/since/because we need to know what has happened.

Where are you injured?

How were you assaulted?
Have you been abused or assaulted in another manner?
Has this sort of abuse happened in the past?
Do you need immediate medical attention? We can call an ambulance and you can go to
hospital to be treated.
Is there a family member or friend who can be with you for support?
Now tell me exactly what has happened and where.
Can you describe the person who has assaulted you and what is your relationship with
them?
Do you wish to make an allegation of assault against this person? (denuncia)
Do you wish to press charges against this person? (make a statement and then attend
court to give evidence against them)
Did anyone else witness the attack?
Are you willing to make a statement about the incident? I will find a private and quiet
room to do this.
I need to take a statement from you about what precisely happened.
I need to evidence your injuries, so photographs will be taken and you will need to be
examined by a doctor, is that ok?
We work in partnership with a number of agencies to help victims of domestic
abuse/violence. We can help you find a place of safety to stay and there are a number of
charities who will support you during this difficult time. I can put you in touch with
them.
