EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT TEST

AIM:
The aim of the practical is to measure the level of emotional intelligence using an emotional
quotient test.

BASIC CONCEPTS

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Quotient
The EQ concept by Dr. dalip Singh (can be referred through the pdf of the test)
The three psychological dimensions
1. Emotional Competency
2. Emotional Maturity
3. Emotional Senstivity

DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEST

The EQ test was developed by Dr. Dalip Singh and Prof. NK Chadha through a rigorous process.
Real-life situations, neutral in social desirability, were collected and evaluated by five expert
judges. Situations were rated on a nine-point scale, focusing on their desirability or undesirability
in others. These situations reflect emotional intelligence aspects like self-awareness,
self-regulation, relationships, motivation, conflict resolution, and stress management, offering a
reliable and unbiased test.

RELIABILITY

Reliability refers to the consistency and stability of a test's results over time or across different
administrations. Test-Retest Reliability indicates that when the test is administered to the same
group of individuals at two different points in time, the scores are highly consistent, suggesting
that the test measures the same traits or constructs consistently over time. The test retest
reliability of the test is 0.94.
Split-Half Reliability measures the internal consistency of a test by splitting it into two halves
and assessing whether the scores obtained on one half correlate closely with the scores on the
other half. A high split-half reliability suggests that the test items are measuring the same
construct reliably. The split-half reliability is 0.89.

VALIDITY
Validity refers to the degree to which a test accurately measures what it is intended to measure.
The validity of the test is 0.89.
