PHYCHOMETRIC TEST

Psychometric testing measures capabilities and personality traits that

determine candidate-fit for any given position. The tests are
developed according to a scientific method, and are designed to be
objective and unbiased.
Oftentimes, they’re conducted once recruiters or HR have decided
that a candidate has fulfilled all the initial requirements for a position
after screening, interviewing, and background checks. The
psychometric evaluations provide HR with detailed insights about a
candidate’s personality, aptitudes, and skills – critical information to
make the final hiring decision. Psychometric Assessments help with
understanding the cognitive abilities, knowledge as well as the
personality traits of a person.

I have been GIVEN four psychometric tests and then explain how
accurate it is and elaborate more as a part of our Project of
Understanding Human Behaviour. The four tests were Big Five
Personality test, Locus of Control test, Perceived stress scale, and
Intrinsic Motivation test.
Test 1
Big Five Personality Test

Scores:
Extraversion- 22/40
Agreeableness- 24/45
Conscientiousness- 32/45
Neuroticism- 26/40
Openness- 45/50
The Big 5 Personality test focuses mainly on 5 broad aspects of
personality. The person is assessed when he/she answers some
questions which are generalised, but they fall under each aspect of
personality which are Extraversion, Agreeableness,
Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, Openness. I have scored more than
half in conscientiousness which means that I have the quality of
wishing to do one’s or duty well and thoroughly. I’m not careless, not
lazy and can do the work in an organized manner. Also, I have scored
good in neuroticism which means that I am more impulsive, short
tempered, and have shy nature which is true and I have to work on
improving it. I have scored more in agreeableness which means I
don’t show-off in-front of anyone, I like to help people out and I try
to bring out the best from others. I have scored moderate on
extraversion which is quite true.
I have scored highest on openness which means that I like to enjoy
trying new things, being more creative, I have a good imagination
and I am willing to consider new ideas. I would say that the Big 5 is a
quite effective and accurate model to know more about ourselves.
Test 2
Locus of Control Test
Score: 11/25
Type: Internal Locus of Control

Locus of control is a psychological concept that refers to how

strongly people believe they have control over the situations and
experiences that affect their lives. It is a belief about whether the
outcomes of our actions are contingent on what we do (internal
control orientation) or on events outside our personal control
(external control orientation). During the test I have to do 29
questions and then scores according to scale which was given. I have
got less scores that means I have internal locus of control. People
with internal locus of control have confident decision making power,
develop their knowledge, work hard that can use to create positive
outcomes. I also believe that every action has its consequence, which
makes me accept the fact that things happen, and it depends on me
if I want to have control over it or not. So I think this test is quite
accurate t for me and the result which came out was relatable,
accurate and fact-based.
Test 3
Intrinsic Motivation Test
Scores:
Intrinsic motivation -12/21
integrated regulation- 5/21
identified regulation- 17/21
introjected regulation- 21/21
external regulation- 8/21
amotivation- 17/21

Intrinsic motivation refers to when we feel compelled to do

something for internal reasons. I believe that this test is somewhat
less accurate as compared to the previous two test that I’ve
completed. The average that I calculated for intrinsic motivation
came out is 12. The result is that I’m average intrinsically motivated. I
prefer more in inner motivation and do not believe much in external
regulation. So I am less effected by external external factors as
compared to internal factors which motivates me more. I have also
scored more in amotivation which is also not always good. So from
my point of view this test is inaccurate compared to the last tests.
Test 4
Perceived Stress Scale
Score: 27, High perceived stress.

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) is the most widely used

psychological instrument for measuring the perception of stress. It is
a measure of the degree to which situations in one’s life are
appraised as stressful. Items were designed to tap how
unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overloaded respondents find their
lives. The scale also includes a number of direct queries about
current levels of experienced stress. The PSS was designed for use in
community samples with at least a junior high school education. The
items are easy to understand, and the response alternatives are
simple to grasp. Moreover, the questions are of a general nature and
hence are relatively free of content specific to any subpopulation
group. The questions in the PSS ask about feelings and thoughts
during the last month. In each case, respondents are asked how
often they felt a certain way.
I have scored 27 in perceived stress test which means I have high
perceived stress. High stress level affect cognitive health, mental
health such as depression, cardiovascular disease such as high blood
pressure, physical health, some of this problem have also been faced
by me many times. This problem need to be shorted out as early as
possible. I have discovered some healthy ways to handle with stress
like we should exercise regularly, maintain our health and meditation
are the good way to cop up with the stress. Thus, I found this test
quiet accurate as this test was this test was and accurate.
Conclusion

Thus, after completing all the test all the test were accurate except
once. It helped me discover new aspects. I would like to do more and
more psychometrics test that will help me.
