HOME ASSIGNMENT
(Developmental Partner Experience Report)

SUBMITTED TO: DR. RICHA AWASTY

SUBMITTED BY: MR. PRANAY RATHORE
ENROLLMENT NO: S223F0035

(Developmental Partner: MR. GURUPREET)

Stage 1: Building Rapport
In the initial stage of our interaction, Gurupreet and I focused on building rapport. As we
hadn't interacted much in class, our first task was to greet each other and use the Johari
Window technique to learn more about each other. This helped us discover aspects that we
wouldn't have known just as classmates.

Stage 2: Building Trust

Following the rapport-building phase, our goal was to establish trust. We delved into
discussions about our open areas, blind spots, and the hidden aspects (dark zone) using the
Johari Window. Sharing our vulnerabilities helped create a foundation of trust between us.
We related our experiences to deepen the connection.

Stage 3: Understanding Personalities

After building trust, we explored our personalities using a tool provided in class. This tool
revealed that Gurupreet's personality aligned with the "Little Professor" type. Understanding
this aspect helped me comprehend Gurupreet's perspective better.

Coaching Session: Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking

As part of the coaching exercise, I took on the role of Gurupreet's coach. Through
conversations, I learned about Gurupreet's fear of public speaking. Drawing from my own
experiences, I shared my journey of overcoming a similar fear during my school days. I
provided suggestions, such as engaging in online interactions through games like PUBG to
gradually reduce the fear.

Coaching Session: Enhancing Focus and Rigidness

Switching roles, Gurupreet became my coach. I discussed my tendency to easily trust others,
impacting my focus on individual tasks. Gurupreet analyzed my nature and suggested
becoming slightly more rigid to avoid being taken advantage of in a corporate setting. This
valuable insight allowed me to recognize areas for personal growth.

NGO Visit: Bonding with Sameem

During our visit to the NGO, Jamghat, I connected with a child named Sameem. By sharing
personal stories and experiences, a strong bond developed. Sameem, facing challenges in
education, revealed his passion for theatre. This experience allowed me to understand the
power of empathy and connection in mentoring relationships.
Few dialogues that we had before completing the report

Pranay : Hey Gurupreet, let's talk about our journey in this coaching and mentoring course.

Gurupreet : Absolutely, Pranay. It's been quite an interesting experience.

Pranay : Remember our first task? Building rapport was crucial. We started with simple
greetings and then dove into the Johari Window. It was fascinating to discover things we
might not have known as mere classmates.

Gurupreet : True, that exercise laid the foundation. Moving on to stage two, building trust.
Discussing our open areas, blind spots, and the hidden aspects was revealing. It created a
sense of trust between us.

Pranay : Understanding personalities was the next step. Your "Little Professor" type
personality was intriguing. It helped me see your perspective better.

Gurupreet : And then came the coaching sessions. You coached me first. Your advice on
overcoming the fear of public speaking was really helpful. Your personal story made it
relatable.

Pranay : Thanks, Gurupreet. Switching roles, when you coached me, your insights about
being more rigid in a corporate setting were eye-opening. It made me reflect on my nature.

Gurupreet: Thank you Pranay.

Gurupreet : The NGO visit was a unique experience. Bonding with those children and
understanding the impact of empathy was powerful.

Pranay : Absolutely. Empathy is key in coaching and mentoring. It was evident during that
visit.
Gurupreet : Overall, being in each other's shoes, experiencing coaching and being coached,
and the real-world application at the NGO made this course impactful.

Pranay : Completely agree. It's not just about learning theories; it's about applying them and
creating meaningful connections. Ready for the next coaching journey?

Gurupreet : Absolutely, Pranay. Let's continue this coaching adventure.

Conclusion
The coaching, counselling, and mentoring course provided a comprehensive platform for
personal and professional development. Through stages of rapport-building, trust
establishment, personality exploration, and coaching sessions, the course facilitated a deeper
understanding of interpersonal dynamics. The NGO visit added a practical dimension,
highlighting the significance of empathy and mentorship in creating positive impacts. This
experience was instrumental in refining my coaching and mentoring skills, preparing me for
future leadership roles.
