CHAPTER 1: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Cloud computing is built for the world of tomorrow, where we each use many different kinds
of computing devices: desktop, laptop, cellphone, or tablet. The intention is to make the
functionality and data we need always accessible no matter where we are in the world, and no
matter what we’re using to access the Internet.
1.1 Objectives:
To Create an AWS Free Tier account and launch your first virtual servers on the
AWS Cloud
To Configure elasticity, high availability and fault tolerance using Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling
and Amazon Elastic Load Balancing
To Create and configure storage services and upload files and objects using
To Launch a relational database on Amazon RDS and a NoSQL database using Amazon
DynamoDB
To Create loosely coupled services with Amazon SQS and Amazon SNS.
Outcomes :
Controlling AWS account access by using IAM Planning for disaster strategies.
CHAPTER 2: OVERVIEW OF ORGANISATION
Vision: AWS's vision is to be Earth's most customer-centric cloud service provider, where
customers can find, build, and run anything they need in the cloud.
Mission: AWS's mission is to continually lower the cost of computing and make it easier for
customers to innovate and scale their businesses using cloud technology.
AWS is committed to providing interns with a valuable learning experience. Interns are
encouraged to learn, grow, and contribute to projects in a supportive and inclusive environment.
AWS offers mentorship and opportunities for interns to work on real projects that align with their
career goals.
D. Organizational Structure:
AWS operates within the larger structure of Amazon.com, with its own executive leadership
team. It is organized into various business units, each responsible for different aspects of
cloud services. These business units include Compute, Storage, Machine Learning, IoT, and
more.
E. Roles and Responsibilities of Employees in Which the Intern is Placed:
Interns at AWS may be placed in a variety of roles, depending on their skills and interests.
Common roles include software development, cloud architecture, solutions architecture,
marketing, sales, and support. The specific responsibilities vary by role, but interns are
typically expected to contribute to projects, learn from experienced professionals, and gain
hands-on experience.
AWS's future plans involve continued innovation and expansion of its cloud service
offerings. It aims to provide customers with even more advanced tools for building and
running applications in the cloud, with a focus on machine learning, security, sustainability,
and global reach. AWS is committed to helping customers meet their evolving needs in a
rapidly changing technology landscape.
3.1 Activities/Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include learning about AWS services, supporting ongoing
projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with documentation. Interns may also
engage in programming and scripting tasks, implement security practices, and monitor
resource performance and costs. Effective communication and collaboration in a virtual
setting are essential skills to develop. The intern's role may involve data management,
attending virtual training sessions, and continuous self-study to stay updated on AWS
technology. The virtual internship experience helps interns acquire valuable AWS expertise
and technical skills while working remotely.
Working Conditions:
Interns in a virtual cloud internship may work remotely from their own computers.
They need a reliable internet connection, a personal computer, and access to the necessary software
tools.
Interns usually work on a set schedule, which may vary depending on the
organization's needs and the intern's availability. A typical schedule might be 20-40 hoursper
week, depending on whether it's a part-time or full-time internship.
Equipment Used:
Interns will typically use their own computers and may be provided access to the
organization's cloud resources. They may also use standard office software and collaboration
tools for communication and project management.
Cloud Computing Skills: Knowledge of cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or
Google Cloud, and hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure.
Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) and the ability to
automate routine tasks.
Cloud Foundations:
A Cloud Foundation is an organization’s strategic approach to mastering its cloud
transformation. This approach has two major aspects: An organizational and a technological one.
Following the Cloud Foundation approach means putting application teams at the center and providing
them with a single point of access for the management of their cloud infrastructure.
The organizational part of a Cloud Foundation is a central cross-functional cloud team. It is
effectively the team that pioneers and paves the way that is used by application teams to safely
travel to and navigate the cloud. The Cloud Foundation Team defines guardrails but the
application teams can keep up agility within these limits.
Cloud Architecting:
Understanding the security and compliance & the shared security model.
Understanding the fundamental concepts of deploying & operating in the AWS cloud.
To configure elasticity, high availability & fault tolerance using Amazon Ec2
Auto scaling &Amazon Elasticity load balancing learnt about t simulation view.
