ABSTRACT
“Cloud” is a collective term for a large number of developments and possibilities. It is not an
invention, but more of a “practical innovation”, combining several earlier inventions into
something new and compelling. Much like the iPod is comprised of several existing concepts and
technologies (the Walkman, MP3 compression and a portable hard disk), cloud computing
merges several already available technologies: high bandwidth networks, virtualization, Web 2.0
interactivity, time sharing, and browser interfaces. Cloud Computing is a popular phrase that is
shorthand for applications that were developed to be rich Internet applications that run on the
Internet (or “Cloud”). Cloud computing enables tasks to be assigned to a combination of software
and services over a network. This network of servers is the cloud. Cloud computing can help
businesses transform their existing server infrastructures into dynamic environments, expanding
and reducing server capacity depending on their requirements. A cloud computing platform
dynamically provisions, configures, reconfigures, and deprovisions servers as needed. Servers in
the cloud can be physical machines or virtual machines. Advanced clouds typically include other
computing resources such as storage area networks (SANs), network equipment, firewall and
other security devices

CHAPTER 2: OVERVIEW OF ORGANISATION

2.1 The overview of Amazon Web Services:

A. Introduction of the Organization:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a subsidiary of Amazon.com and is a global leader in

cloud computing and web services. AWS provides a comprehensive and scalable cloud
platform offering a wide range of services, including computing power, storage, machine
learning, analytics, and more. It was founded in 2006 and has grown to become one of the
largest and most influential cloud service providers in the world.

B. Vision, Mission, and Values of the Organization:

Vision: AWS's vision is to be Earth's most customer-centric cloud service provider, where
customers can find, build, and run anything they need in the cloud.

Mission: AWS's mission is to continually lower the cost of computing and make it easier for
customers to innovate and scale their businesses using cloud technology.

Values: AWS values customer obsession, ownership, long-term thinking, and

innovation as core principles that drive their operations.
C. Policy of the Organization in Relation to the Intern Role:

AWS is committed to providing interns with a valuable learning experience. Interns are
encouraged to learn, grow, and contribute to projects in a supportive and inclusive environment.
AWS offers mentorship and opportunities for interns to work on real projects that align with their
career goals.
D. Organizational Structure:

AWS operates within the larger structure of Amazon.com, with its own executive leadership
team. It is organized into various business units, each responsible for different aspects of
cloud services. These business units include Compute, Storage, Machine Learning, IoT, and
more.
E. Roles and Responsibilities of Employees in Which the Intern is Placed:
Interns at AWS may be placed in a variety of roles, depending on their skills and interests.
Common roles include software development, cloud architecture, solutions architecture,
marketing, sales, and support. The specific responsibilities vary by role, but interns are
typically expected to contribute to projects, learn from experienced professionals, and gain
hands-on experience.

F. Performance of the Organization in Terms of Turnover, Profits, Market Reach, and

Market Value:
AWS has consistently shown strong financial performance, with significant annual revenue
growth. It has a substantial market share in the cloud computing industry and serves millions of
customers worldwide. It has contributed significantly to Amazon.com's overall profitability and
market value.
G. Future Plans of the Organization:

AWS's future plans involve continued innovation and expansion of its cloud service
offerings. It aims to provide customers with even more advanced tools for building and
running applications in the cloud, with a focus on machine learning, security, sustainability,
and global reach. AWS is committed to helping customers meet their evolving needs in a
rapidly changing technology landscape.

CHAPTER 3: INTERNSHIP PART

3.1 Activities/Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include learning about AWS services, supporting ongoing
projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with documentation. Interns may also
engage in programming and scripting tasks, implement security practices, and monitor
resource performance and costs. Effective communication and collaboration in a virtual
setting are essential skills to develop. The intern's role may involve data management,
attending virtual training sessions, and continuous self-study to stay updated on AWS
technology. The virtual internship experience helps interns acquire valuable AWS expertise
and technical skills while working remotely.

Working Conditions:
Interns in a virtual cloud internship may work remotely from their own computers.
They need a reliable internet connection, a personal computer, and access to the necessary software
tools.

Weekly Work Schedule:

Interns usually work on a set schedule, which may vary depending on the
organization's needs and the intern's availability. A typical schedule might be 20-40 hoursper
week, depending on whether it's a part-time or full-time internship.

Equipment Used:
Interns will typically use their own computers and may be provided access to the
organization's cloud resources. They may also use standard office software and collaboration
tools for communication and project management.

3.2 Skills Acquired:

 Cloud Computing Skills: Knowledge of cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or
Google Cloud, and hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure.

 Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) and the ability to
automate routine tasks.

 Problem-Solving: Enhanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to cloud

technologies.

 Communication: Improved communication and collaboration skills through interaction with

team members in a virtual environment.

 Project Management: Experience in project management, time management, and meeting

deadlines.  Networking: A better understanding of cloud networking and security best
practices.
3.3 Tasks:

Cloud Foundations:
A Cloud Foundation is an organization’s strategic approach to mastering its cloud
transformation. This approach has two major aspects: An organizational and a technological one.
Following the Cloud Foundation approach means putting application teams at the center and providing
them with a single point of access for the management of their cloud infrastructure.
The organizational part of a Cloud Foundation is a central cross-functional cloud team. It is
effectively the team that pioneers and paves the way that is used by application teams to safely
travel to and navigate the cloud. The Cloud Foundation Team defines guardrails but the
application teams can keep up agility within these limits.

Cloud Architecting:

A cloud architect is an IT professional who is responsible for overseeing a company's cloud

computing strategy. This includes cloud adoption plan, design, and cloud management and
monitoring. Cloud architects oversee application architecture and deployment in cloud
environments including, private cloud. Additionally, they act as consultants to their
organization and need to stay current on the latest trends and issues. Companies that hire cloud
architects either use cloud services or are planning to move to the cloud
