IV. READING (20 points)
6a. Read a magazine interview and answer. What’s the topic of the interview?
Mr. Stephen Simpson is a president of a big company. We interviewed him last week.
Journalist: Mr. Simpson, I know you have a lot of work and are very busy. So thank
you for your time and for agreeing to give us this interview. My first question is about
your leisure activities. What do you like doing when you get some free time?
Mr. Simpson: Well, as you said I’m a very busy person, and I’ve got little time for
leisure. Sometimes I have a free weekend, and then I usually go to the countryside. I
enjoy nature and fresh air very much. I particularly like walking. While walking, I do bird
watching. It’s a lot of fun. It makes me relax and forget about my busy life.
Journalist: I think a lot of people enjoy going out of town. Why?
Mr. Simpson: In my opinion work makes most people tired, so they prefer going to a
quiet place away from the stress of work. Also, when you go to the country, you get a
good rest and that’s good for your health.
Journalist: What else is helpful for getting rid of stress?
Mr. Simpson: Oh, there are so many ways of getting rid of stress and different people
use different ways. For example, besides going to the countryside, I play the guitar and
listen to classical music. Personally, I think it’s the best way to relax.
Journalist: Yes, I agree with you. Mr. Simpson, how long have you been playing the
guitar?
Mr. Simpson: Since my childhood. In other words, for more than thirty years.
Journalist: Thank you again, Mr. Simpson, for coming for the interview and sharing
your thoughts and ideas.
