Dae BOER oe Tage 03/01/2011 16402330001 NC 30f5 Tie Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for Augusta A109E with Whelen LED Position / Strobe Assembly Installed. 1. ny INTRODUCTION 4.4 Purpose This document is designed for use by the installing agency of the Whelen LED Position/Strobe Light Assembly's and LED Anti-Collision Light 90340( )-Series as Instructions for Continued Airworthiness in response to 14 CFR 27.1529, and Part 27 Appendix A. This ICA includes information required by the operator to adequately ‘maintain the Whelen LED PositioryStrobe Light Assembly's and LED Anti-Collision Light 90340( )-Series installed in a AUGUSTA A109E helicopter under an approved FAA form 337. 1.2 Scope This document identifies the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for the modification of the aircraft for installation of the Whelen LED Position/Strobe Light Assembly's 90340( )-Series. 1.3. Retention This document, or the information contained within, will be included in the aircrafts permanent records. Description of Alteration ‘The Mode! 90340( )-Series System consists of 3 LED's for forward position lights and 2 aft LED's along with a flashtube for the strobe. The 90340( )-Series was designed to replace the existing NAV lights typically seen mounted on most general aviation, and helicopter applications. » Control, Operating Information Operation of the Whelen position lights (RED and GREEN) are controlled by a toggle ‘switch located in the overhead switch panel, labeled “POS”. The strobe lights are controlied by a toggle switch located in the overhead switch panel and labeled “STROBE”. The anti-collision light is controlled by a toggle switch located in the overhead switch panel labeled as “ANTI-COLL). - Servicing Information No special servicing is required. Maintenance Instructions Maintenance of the Whelen LED position lights are ON CONDITION only. Periodic maintenance is not required. The maintenance instructions presented in the ICA are limited to the removal, installation and routine maintenance of the unit only. 6. Troubleshooting Information any LED fails, the unit must be repaired or replaced. Inspect the lenses for excessive scratches, pitting or discoloration and replace as necessary. a) Reference Whelen installation Document #14112A, 05131 Rev B & RSG. Aerodesign Document 08402330004 Rev NC 7. Removel and Replacement Information Removal: 1. Remove hardware as needed to remove the suspect defective item and save for reinstallation, if hardware is damaged or worn replace with new like hardware. 2. Ifthe unit is removed and reinstalled, an abbreviated correspondence check must be conducted to ensure correct operation. Installation: 1. Reinstallation shall be in reverse order with the same hardware that was removed if not damaged, otherwise install new hardware and ensure correct operation. a) Reference Whelen Installation Document #141 12A, 90340( )-Series LED Position/strobe light assembly. 8. Diagrams Model 20340( )-Series LED, Refer to Whelen installation Guide 14112A or later and RSG Aerodesign Document 08402330004 Rev NC. 9. Application of Protective Treatments No special protective.coatings or treatments are required. 11. Data Relative to Structural Fasteners The LED housing/ assembly is mounted using standard aircraft hardware as required by the installation. Any hardware found damaged on inspection or damaged during removal should be replaced with like hardware on installation. See Whelen Anti- Collision Light Systems Installation and Service manual Documents listed below: Model 90840( )-Series, Refer to Installation Manual 141124 or later. 12. Special Tools No Special tools are required. 13. Additional instructions This installation is not for commuter category aircraft; therefore no additional ICA Instructions are required. 14, Overhaul Period The system does not require overhaul at a specific time period. 15. airworthiness Limitations Section No Airworthiness Requirements. 16. Revisions Includes information on how to revise the ICA. For example, a letter will be submitted to the local FAA Office with a copy of the revised FAA Form 397 and revised ICA. The FAA inspector accepts the change by signing block 3 and including the following statement, “The attached revisec/new Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (date___) for the above aircraft or component major alteration have been accepted by the FAA, superseding the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (date ” After the revision has been accepted, a maintenance record entry will be made, identifying the revision, its location, and date on the FAA Form 337.
