Dear ISHAARA MOHAMMED, The subject refers A Notice, ‘Notice of Intended Disqualification/Suspension of Driving Permit by the Licensing Authority’ dated July 28th, 2023 Reference Number DSQ51864451656587754 was issued and delivered to you, in accordance with the Demerit Points System, informing of: (1) your accumulation of eighteen (18) demerit points within a period of three (3) years (see table below); (2) the intention of the Licensing Authority to disqualify you from holding or obtaining a driving permit for a period of twelve (12) months; and (3) the opportunity to provide reasons or show cause, in writing, to the Licensing Authority within fourteen (14) days from the date of the notice, as to why the Licensing Authority should not impose the disqualification By e-mail dated August 2nd, 2023, you elected to show cause and made written representations informing why the Licensing Authority should not impose the disqualification. After review of the representations made the Licensing Authority took the decision to disqualify you from holding or obtaining a driving permit and wishes to advise you of the following: ‘+ Due process was followed; * You had ample opportunity to avoid the increase in demerit points due to the previously imposed demerit points arising out of the traffic violation(s) committed on July 21, 2021 and January 17, 2022; ‘+ You have failed to take into consideration the personal challenges to be encountered as a deterrent prior to being disqualified; + Your use of the Priority Bus Route does not conform to Special Roads (Traffic) Regulations Chap. 48:01, Regulation 2; * The type of offences committed are an endangerment to yourself and others; and + The violations committed by you are repetitive and displays a lack of due diligence in securing yourself, passengers and other road users in any eventualities and as such, may require reformation.
