resources distribution. Mineral resources: Environmental effects of extracting and
processing Mineral resources. Food resources: Effects of modern agriculture. Land
resources: Soil erosion and Desertification.
Unit III
Energy sources
Growing energy needs. Conventional and non conventional / Renewable and Non-
renewable energy sources. Bio energy-Ethanol and Bio mass energy. Energy of the future –
Hydrogen fuel cells and Nuclear enegry. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA):
Definition, Objectives and benefits. Step by step procedure of conducting EIA.

Environmental Protection Act, Air & Water Acts. Functions of Central and State Pollution
