CHAPTER 1

The Problem and Its Background

Introduction

Employee training and development, which includes coaching,

mentoring, informal learning, self-directed learning, and

experiential learning, is a structured process carried out by

talent development specialists to enhance job performance and

knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Employee development programs

enhance productivity, close skill gaps, and improve work

performance. This results in upskilling, creativity, agility, and

a competitive edge. Through the identification of high-performing

workers and assistance in acquiring the skills required for

senior jobs, it also supports succession planning. To make a

worker preparing program, associations ought to direct a

requirements evaluation by an ability improvement proficient.

This recognizes expertise holes, distinguish arrangements, gain

partner backing, and assemble compatibility with students. Since

many employees mention a lack of growth possibilities at their

present job as a key reason for leaving, employee training and

development may be a valuable strategy for recruiting and

retention. In fact, according to LinkedIn's 2018 Workplace

Learning Report, 93% of employees would stay at a company longer

if it invested in their careers. Workers who have access to

training and development opportunities are more likely to stay at

their organizations longer and be more engaged while there.

Additionally, its 2021 Workplace Leaning Report discovered that

employees are retained for twice as long by organizations with

strong internal mobility.
