IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT:
(a) ALL APPROPRIATE SAFETY MEASURES SUCH AS THOSE SET FORTH IN THE
APPLICABLE MACHINE MAINTENANCE MANUAL ARE FOLLOWED DURING THE
PERFORMANCE OF THIS WORK; AND,
1. Figure 1 shows the schematics after the Proximity Selector Switch is installed.
Use the schematics as an aid through the installation procedure.
4. Remove the old selector switch. Disconnect all wires going to it. Remove the
top and side panels to aid in the next installation steps. See Figure 5.
Figure 6: pull the SSW harness (minus 80B3) back to the dashboard.
6. At TB18, locate the terminal where the wires 80B9 and 80B10 connect
(TB18E for legacy trucks, TB18J for newer trucks).
8. Retrieve the SSW – Terminal Board harness provided with harness kit. See
Figure 7.
10. Connect the SSW – Terminal Board harness to the Selector Switch. Route
the harness to the dashboard. Tidy up with cable ties. See Figure 9.
11. Retrieve the four Relay Mounts (p/n 52706) and label them “SSW R1”, “SSW
R2”, “SSW R3”, “SSW R4”, respectively.
12. Install the wires from harness kit to the Relay Mounts R1, R2, R3 and R4 as
indicated on Figure 10 (use the “TO” column).
Figure 10: install the indicated wires into the relay mounts.
13. Install the Terminal Board (label it TB SSW) and the Relay Mounts (R1, R2,
R3 & R4) at the dashboard location shown on Figure 11. Drill holes as
necessary and use the hardware provided in kit.
15. Connect all wires to TBSSW as per the table below (use “FROM” column):
17. Install the relays (p/n 53898) into the Relay Mounts.
1. Use the Troubleshooting Table below to test and/or troubleshoot the new
Selector Switch circuitry. NOTE: the truck’s Master Switch must be in ON
position.
2. The new Selector Switch still uses a spring mechanism to give the “latching”
effect. The spring may be replaced with a service spring (p/n 57794) if it
becomes too soft. See Figure 12 for the location of this spring.
