Worksheet II
2. For each of the following recurrence relations, find an for n = 1, 2, 3, 4. Then solve the recurrence
relation:
(a) an = an−1 + n + 2, a0 = 0
(b) an = an−1 + 7n, a0 = 0
(c) an+1 = an − 1, a0 = 3
(d) an = an−1 + 3n−1 , a1 = 2
6. Some one deposits Birr 10, 000 in a savings account at a bank yielding 5% per year with interest
compounded annually. Find a recurrence relation and how much money will be in the account
after 30 years?
