There are hundreds of commercially available pigments, which offer a number of choices in shades,
physical properties and cost of use. A formulators’ common dilemma is know which pigments they
should use for their particular application. A good understanding of a pigment’s capabilities and
limitations (heat stability, durability, hiding, and cost) and performance differences are necessary for
customer satisfaction.
In this presentation, our discussion will focus on basic chemistry, the physical and the chemical
properties of pigments which can be used as a guide for selection to arrive at the optimum
formulation for your application.

Initial talk info from Craig – is preparing talk title and synopsis now.
technical and mostly non-commercial research from major automotive and aerospace companies on
how to use weathering technology innovations to increase confidence in service life prediction of
transportation coatings. The presentation would include practical research data. Lessons learned
from the research could easily applied to marine coatings as well.
