speeches. The theatre was cheaper than now because it was a popular art.

theatre and is repeated. “Heaven” is also a reference to the playhouse. “Swelling scene” = link
with ?. “gentles all” > address to the audience.
There were not actress and the feminine roles were played by men. Travestissement. En
France, il y avait des troupes familiales. En Angleterre, les troupes étaient masculines par
choix de carrière. C’est pour cette raison que les costumes devaient être clairement
identifiables.

Juliette n’est pas passive et Roméo se sent à certains moments dévirilisé. Et cette ambiguité
est rendue possible parce qu’il n’y avait que des acteurs masculins. Certaines troupes étaient
composées de jeunes garçons/garçons, ce qui entraîne une question de génération.

La nouveauté de la Renaissance : le théâtre devient un business florissant avec une grande

concurrence entre les théâtres.
