A SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN ON FINITE AND NON-FINITE VERBS

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:


1. Identify the finite and non-finite verbs.
2. Show the differences of Finite and Non-finite Verbs
3. Engage the students in a classroom presentation activity.
4. Evaluate a short story and identify the Finite and Non-finite verbs that are used.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: finite and non-finite verbs.
Materials: PowerPoint Presentations of the lesson, Laptop, flashcards. Visual Aids

III. Learning Episode


A. Routinary Activities (2 Minutes)
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Energizer (games)
4. Class Organizing

B. Review (5 Minutes)
The teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson. Regular and irregular
verbs. The teacher will show a flashcard verb and the students will identify whether the
verb is a regular verb or irregular verb.

C. Motivation (5 Minutes)
The teacher will show a balloon with a constructed sentence inside. And he will
group the students into 5 groups, after that the teacher will give each group a balloon and
they will pop the balloon and they will arrange the sentence into correct order to identify
what is the missing word in the sentence. And after that they will get the missing word on
the board to complete the sentence. The first group who finished the activity first will get a
reward.

D. Lesson Proper (35 Minutes)


Before introducing the Finite and Non-Finite Verbs, the teacher will divide the
students into 2 groups, then the teacher will present a video about the Finite and Non-
Finite Verbs and their differences.

After watching the video, he/she will ask each group to present the information that
they gathered and learned from the video presentation. Group 1 will present the Finite
Verbs, and group 2 will present the Non-Finite Verbs.

After the presentation, the teacher will highlight more information about the Finite
verbs and the Non-Finite verbs. Finite verbs are utilized in the present and Past tense.
They can be indicative of numbers. Non-finite verbs are not restricted through the number
or person of the subject. And the teacher will supply the sentence in the motivation activity
to discuss to the students whether the sentence is a finite verb or Non-Finite Verb.

IV. Application and Evaluation


The teacher will give the students a reading material entitled “A sound of thunder”
And they will analyze the short story and they will highlight the verb and identify if it is
infinite or non-finite verb that is used in each sentence.

V. Assignment
Directions: Locate the verbs in the following sentences and identify if they are finite or non-
finite verbs. Put your answers in your notebook and submit it on our next meeting.

1. I had alfredo pasta for lunch today.

2. They brought us some homemade cookies.

3. Getting down from his caravan, A. R. Rahman waved to his fans.

4. My parents have decided to move to New Zealand by the end of this year.

5. The waves kept hitting the rocks at regular intervals.
