1.3 Configuring the PC

Personnel:  System administrator/network administrator

To ensure the scanning system works properly, the following

configuration has to be set in the control panel:
Again open the network card settings dialog by navigating to:
Settings -> Control panel -> Network and Sharing Centre ->
Change Adapter Settings. Right click on the icon of the network
card that is connected to the scanner (usually labelled Intel(R)
Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter) and select “properties”. This should
look like this (Fig.6):

Fig. 1: ‘Local Area Connection Status’ window

1. Uncheck all the boxes in the ‘Local Area Connection

Properties’ window apart from ‘Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4)’

2. In the window ‘Local Area Connection Properties’ (Fig. 7)

Click ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and select the
‘Properties’ button.

3. In the window ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Properties’ click on the button ‘Use the following IP address’
and enter the IP address ‘192.168.128.11’.

Important Hint:
Since Firmware version KA81_V0_0.0.0.8 the scanner
provides a DHCP server that automatically sets up the
IP-address. In this case you could just leave the setting
to “Obtain an IP address automatically”.

4. Leave the window ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Properties’ (Fig. 8) by clicking ‘OK’.

. If not done already switch on the Windows Firewall in

the window ‘Windows Firewall’ (Fig. 12) (public and
private).
Use the “Use recommended settings” button if
available.
If you start the Omniscan for the first time it will open a
port in the firewall for the communication with the
scanner. This can only be done if the Omniscan is
started (once) with “run as administrator”. Allow
Omniscan access to the network (in this case to the
scanner) for public and private access.

To enable the Firewall manually click on option “Turn

Windows Firewall on or off”, then enable the firewall for
Home and Public (Fig. 13) and click OK.
