Topic 1 (unit1)

How to make an effective presentation.

Present skill is an important skill for students. The basic structure of a presentation

has 3 main parts: introduction, body and conclusion. Before presentation, the presenter

should prepare slide well, practice speaking at home, and choose the suitable outfit. During

presentation, the presenter should make eye contact, use effective facial expressions, smile

more and they shouldn’t read paper. After presentation, the presenter should be happy to

answer any questions from audience, they shouldn’t come back your seat immediately.

Those are some of my tips. good bye and see you again.

Topic 2 (u2 Talk about some different kinds of couplings you know)
Couplings are popular mechanical devices used to transmit power from one shaft to
another shaft. And I know two main kind of them. They are rigid couplings and flexible
couplings.Rigid couplings are constructed of all metal materials. They serve to align the
shafts with each other. Perfect alignment reduces wear on the machine. Therefore, they
maximize performance and effciency. The most common rigid coupling is called sleeve-
style which consists of a cylindrical sleeve. Otherwise, flexible couplings are used for
transmiting power from one shaft to another when the two shafts are slightly misaligned.
Beam couplings are the type of flexible ones I know the best. They are cut in a spiral
shape. These can accommodate several degrees of shaft offset. Generally, flexible
couplings can help reduce noise and unwanted vibrations
Topic 3 (u3:Talk about some different about some kinds of bearings you know)

Nowadays bearings have become an indispensable thing for many products. There are two

main types of bearings that I know: Journal Bearings and Rolling contact bearings. Journal

bearings have no rolling parts. The shaft rotates inside a lubricated sleeve instead. The load

carrying capacity is high. Different from journal bearings, rolling contacts bearings use

rollers to support loads. They have an inner race and outer race and they accommodate

different types of force and motion. The load carrying capacity is low-medium. In rolling

contact bearings, there are 4 main types of bearings: Ball bearings, straight roller bearings,

tapered roller bearings, thrust roller bearings. Ball bearings use spherical rollers to support
axial and radial motion while straight roller bearings use cylindrical to support radial

motion. Besides, tapered roller bearings are for supporting radial forces and moderate

thrust forces using conical rollers and thrust roller bearings serves to support thrust motion

using barrel-shaped rollers. Actually, bearings are very important for supporting shafts

because they help bear weight and direct motion. In

addition, they also prevent shafts from moving in undesired directions. Without bearings,

shafts might move uncontrollably, preventing useful work from being performed.

Topic 4 (u3: Describe some types of gears you know)

Gears play such an important part in machines that they have become the symbol for
machinery. Firstly,The simplest type of gear is spur gear. Its teeth may project toward or
awy from the center beside spur gears are easy to install, cheap, the most common and
simplest gears. Spur gears are used for transmitting motion along parallel axes rather than
for changing direction. Secondly, helical gears mesh more smoothly than spur gears. Its
teeth are cut in a spiral shape and reduce noise and vibration. It is used for transmiting
components and reducing speed. Finally, bevel gear is gears meet each other at an angle. It
is usually 90 degree and the function of it is to transmit components and transmit power at
angle.
Topic 5 (u3: Make a comparison between two types of drives)
I would like to compare two types of drives which are chain drives and belt drives. In
terms of similarities, both chains and belts are for moving objects by attaching frames to
them. In terms of differences, chains are different from belts in many ways. First, chain
drives are often made of metal while belt drives are made of rubber and plastic. Besides,
chain drives have small dimensions; and they are often narrower than belt drives.
Therefore, belt drive can slip and stretch easily, but chain drives can’t. Chain drives can
wear out faster than belts because they need frequent lubrication. finally, chain drives have
high heat resistance while that of belt drives is low, about –35 to 85°C.
Topic 6 ( u4: Talk about a new CAD program you know)
Today I will introduce about Autocad 2018.It’s developed by Autodesk corporation
and it was used to build the 2d and 3d model. But I do not recommend 3d design in
cad because there are still many limitations. Went through many versions, autocad
gradually improved and brought stability as well as many new features to users.
Talk a little about why I choose this version and not the 2020-2021 version because
the 2018 version is considered a stable version, suitable for even weak computers.
Advantages of autocad can be mentioned: the accuracy is much more optimized
than when drawing by hand. Detect errors quickly and make corrections right on
the drawing. Send drawing files quickly. Besides the advantages, there are still
some disadvantages: User training takes a long time and is expensive; Large CAD
maintenance and upgrade costs. Until now, autocad supports 3 formats: DWG,
DXF and DWF (a format developed by Autodesk)

Topic 7 ( u5:Look at the pictures and describe the manufacturing process of a car wheel)

The car wheel is made from sheet steel. There ara five steps in the process of
manufacturing a car wheel.
The first step is puching, in the step holes are puched in the sheet steel.
In the next step, the steel is formed to shape by pressing.
Next, the steel is welded. In this stage, pieces of steel are joined together using very high
temperature
After the welding process, the surface of the steel is covered with paint to prevent
corrosion.
The final step is inspection, the work is checked carefully to make sure the part has been
made properly.
The car wheel is made from aluminum. There are five steps in the process of
manufacturing a wheel.
The first step is casting. In this step hot liquid of alumium is poured into a containner and
then cooled to make the correct shape.
In the next step, the material is turned on a lathe toremove excessive parts.
Next, the part is drilled. In this step holes are made on the sheet using a drill.
After drilling, the next process is grinding, surfaces of the alumium is ground to make it
smooth.
The final stp is inspection, the work is checked carefully to make sure that the part has
been made property.
Topic 8 : U6 Talk about some different types of plastic (at least 3 types) (definition of
plastic, common applications, types of plastic, their codes, properties and applications of 3
common ones)
Plastic is a synthetic material that uses polymers as a main ingredient.
Plastic is able to be moulded or shaped to any forms. Plastic has been
choosen for making many items Because it is versatile, lightweight,
durable, cheap and safe. As I know, There are 7 types of plastic with
different uses and features including: PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS,
and OTHER PLASTIC. The first one is PET. It is strong and recycable.
We use PET to make food and drink packaging. Next is HDPE, it hard
and resistant to heat. This plastic use for grocery bags, milk jugs and also
in shampoo bottles too. Finally, LDPE, it really cheap and easy to
produce and can be use in plastic bags or dispensing bottles. There are
still a few types of plastic that haven't been mentioned, today I'm only talk
about some of the commonly plastics.
Topic 9: u7 Activity 2A + 3A : Look at the picture and describe the process of plastic
injection moulding/ extrusion moulding

As you can see in the figure, this is a plastic injection moulding process. There are
seven steps in this process. First, Pellets of plastic are fed from the hopper into a
cylinder. Second, The pallets are pushed along the cylinder by a rotating screw, and
heated. Third, The screw stops rotating and then a ram in front of screw moves
straight forward. Beside that, The soft, warm plastic is pushed toward a nozzle by a
ram. Next, The soft plastic is injected through the nozzle into a shaped cavity
between the two halves of a mould. Then, The plastic is cooled by the mould, and
becomes hard in the cavity. Finally, The mould opens and the cold, hard solid
plastic shape is ejected.

As you can see in the figure, this is a plastic extrusion moulding process. There are
six steps in this process. First, we move the polymer pellets from the hopper to the
cylinder. Second, an electric motor turns the screw in the extrusion moulder. Beside
that, the cord polymer pellets move along the cylinder. Next, heaters warm the
polymer pellets to turn them into a liquid. Then, the warm, soft molten polymer
moves along the cylinder. Finally, the machine pushes the molten polymer out into
the mould.
Topic 10 :u7 Activity 4B: Talk about some common problems (at least 3 problems causes
and solutions) for plastic injection moulding

Good affternoon, my name Vu Quang Huy, today I will talk about some
common problems for plastic injection moulding. From my point of view, there
are 3 typical problems of plastic injection moudling. They are: Short shot,Void
and sink mark. The reason for short shot is not enough plastic in the shot; the fill
speed and pressure is low. To solve this problems, we have the following
solutions: increase fill speed, plastic and mould temperature. About Void, there
are two main reasons for this phenomenon: Fisrt: the injection pressure is
low, second the gate is too small. When faced this problem,we can increase gate
size and the injection pressure to force more materials into the mold. Final, sink
mark. There are two reasons for this phenomenon. Fisrt, the internal stress is too
high. Second, the part has low surface rigidity. There are 2 ways to avoid these
causes: Increase holding pressure and holding time and the next one is reduce
mould temperature.

Topic 11: : Look at the maintenance list of a machine tool and talk to a customer about it
(3 bài giống nhau nên chỉ làm 1,2 cái còn lại tự thay)
- Good afternoon. My name is Huy , a maintenance staff of Nissan
Company. I am here to present you the maintenance list of this Milling
machine and I hope that this will bring you a better experience when
using it.Firstly, you should clean the guideways and inspect the oil level
daily to avoid interruptions, control the line of motion of fluids and
ensure engine efficiency. Secondly, you need renew oil, this job doesn't
need to be done every day, you can do it semi-annually. Renew coolant
is similar to renew oil. Next, about inspect bearing slackness, you can do
it annually. Final, clean the machine, you should do weekly. That’s all
about the Milling machine maintenance schedule. Please keep it in mind
