for thousands of years. She asks her teacher who shrugs it off by saying that
her question is irrelevant to the lesson.
SITUATION 2:
Prativa is a Class VII student in Government Girls High school.
Mr. Ajay is teaching-The Invention of Vita-Wonk- in their class. Prativa
doesn’t understand how a man can determine the age of a tree which has
lived four thousand years and more. She asked the question to her teacher
in the previous class. Mr. Ajay enters the class with their science teacher,
Ms. Jyotsna. She explains that the age of a tree is determined from the rings
around it.
SITUATION 3:
Binod is a Class VII student in a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Ms.
Radha is teaching a funny story from their English textbook-The Invention
of Vita-Wonk. Binod doesn’t understand how the age of a tree can be
determined.
Ms. Radha enters the class with their science teacher, Mr.
Bipin. Both take the children in batches to the coconut trees in the school
campus. The trees have a placard that shows their botanical name and the
year of plantation. Mr. Binod shows them the rings on the trees and asks
the children to count. They count the rings and match the number with the
year of plantation shown on the placard. Mr. Binod explains that the age of
a tree is determined by its rings.
