Requirements For Submitting An Expression of Interest To Serve in The Australian Army
So the Australian Army from time to time accepts application from foreign applicants who serve or have
served in military service to work for the Australian Army.
The process begins with an Expression of Interest to serve in the Australian Army. If you are accepted,
then based on your military service skills and experience. Your application will be considered when
various vacancies in the Australian Army arise.
1. The applicant has an opportunity to serve one of the best military organization in the world. The
experience gained is beneficial to the applicant’s military career prospects.

1. Apply using the e-mail link below by submitting an Expression of Interest accompanied by a
CV/Resume.
2. Upon review of your initial qualification & circumstances the applicant may be invited to submit
a full application pack.
3. Upon submission of the full application pack, it will be reviewed to confirm that your skills and
qualifications can be readily transferred to the Australian Army in an anticipated vacancy.
4. If approved to move further in the application, the applicant may be required to complete the
following:
a. Provide a fully medical history which will be done by a panel physician, and which will be
reviewed by a Doctor to confirm if you meet Australian Army medical standards.
b. Undertake a psychological screening by a panel physician.
c. Undertake an interview with a Defense Member and Family Support.
5. Upon successful completion of the above requirements, the applicant will be invited to attend a
selection board. Pending the outcome of the selection board & applicable vacancies, a Letter of
Offer may be extended.
6. Once the applicant accepts the Letter of Offer, the Australian Army will apply for an Employer
Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Labour Agreement Stream Visa from the Department of
Home Affairs for the applicant and the applicant’s dependents that will be accompanying you to
Australia.
7. Once the applicant successfully obtains the Visa, the applicant must submit confirmed proof of
having resigned from current military service before the entry date listed on your visa.
8. Before your move to Australia, the applicant is required to attend an Australian Embassy to
undertake the appointment/enlistment ceremony.
1. Current serving member of Kenya Defense Forces, or retired less than 3 years ago.
2. 5 years of full-time military experience.
3. Transferrable Qualifications, skills, and experience to the Australian Army.
4. Minimum academic & military education standards required by the Army. (This may include
prior certification in the Kenya Defense College or any approved Higher Education Institution
during your military service.)
5. Less than 48 years old at the time of application.
6. IELTS Certification at least over 7.5 Band. It should not be lower than 6.0 Band.
Dates for applying for the EOI to serve in the Australian Army.
Take note of these dates since any application submitted outside these dates will NOT be considered.
1. Your up-to-date CV – should include military awards during the period of service
2. Copies of education certificates & testimonials
3. Copy of your Kenya Defence Forces I.D Card
4. Copy of your Kenyan Passport valid for at least 2 years from the time of submission of your
application.
Service Charges
1. Writing a CV in proper 1,000
format.
2. Writing a cover letter in 500
proper format.
