Slide Presentation:
_________ Kindly Read the first bullet ● In history, art has mirrored
on the first slide life in the community,
society, and the world in all
its color, lines, shapes, and
forms. The same has been
true in the last two centuries,
with world events and global
trends being reflected in the
various art movements. The
decades from 1900 to the
present have been the human
race living in an ever-
shrinking plane. The 20th
century saw a boom in the
interchange of ideas, beliefs,
values, and lifestyles that
continues to bring the citizens
of the world closer.

Okay thank you, ________ Kindly Read the

second bullet. ● The 19th century was a time
of significant and rapidly
increasing change. As a result
of the Industrial Revolution,
enormous changes in
manufacturing, transport, and
technology began to affect
how people lived, worked,
and traveled throughout
Europe and America. These
changes have also an effect
on the world of art. The art
movements of the 19th
century to the 20th century
captured and expressed all
these and more. Specifically,
these were the movements
known as Impressionism and
Expressionism. While earlier
periods of art had quite set
conventions as to the style,
technique, and treatment of
their subjects, impressionist
and expressionist conveyed
their ideas and feelings in
bold, innovative ways. These
were the exciting precursors
of modern art of the 21st
century.

Okay ________ please stand and
kindly read the next slide ●The Impressionism and
Expressionism are two
movements that emerged in
the world of art between
which a key difference can be
identified. Impressionism was
an art movement that
developed in the 1860s in
Paris. Expressionism was a
movement that emerged in
1905 in Germany. The key
difference between
impressionism and
expressionism is that while
impressionism tried to
capture the impression or the
momentary effect of a scene,
expressionism presented the
exaggerated and distorted
emotions through art.

Okay thank you ________,

Based on what ________ read what

did you understand?

Okay________ (One student raised his/her

hand)

In my understanding
sir/ma’am There is a
significant distinction
between the two trends that
evolved in the world of art,
Impressionism and
Expressionism. The 1860s
saw the emergence of the
Impressionism in Paris.
Around Germany, a
movement known as
expressionism first appeared
in 1905. The different of this
two is that whereas the
former sought to capture an
impression or fleeting effect
of a sight, the latter used art
to communicate exaggerated
and distorted emotions. Let's
look at the distinctions
between the two movements
in more detail through this
post.
Okay Thank you __________ that’s
correct, there is a big difference
between the two art movements that
arose, Impressionism and
Expressionism. Impressionism
emerged in Paris in the 1860s. In
1905, the expressionism movement
emerged in Germany. The key
distinction between impressionism
and expressionism is that while
impressionism attempted to capture
the impression or momentary effect
of a scene, expressionism presented
exaggerated and distorted emotions
through art.
●Why Is Modern Art
For our next slide Why Modern Art Important?
is important? Please read Modern art plays an essential
___________ role as a stimulus that can
provoke independent
thoughts and even emotions.

Thank you _________, But Modern None sir/ma’am

Art gives what in the audience?

Do you have any Idea?

Okay, Modern art gives the audience an

opportunity to embrace new ideas and
reflect on changes in the world and our
lives differently. Art is well known for its
amazing feature of educating people and
creating that pleasant environment of a new
world in a whole new vision. A new way of
translating thoughts, feelings, and emotions
based on experiences are now presented with
the help of projectors, interactive screens or
videos.

Okay, now that we've established what modern

art is and the distinctions between
Impressionism and Expressionism, let us now
define what Impressionism and Expressionism ●is an art movement that
planted the seeds for what we
art are. now know as modern art. The

the mid-1800s and introduced
exciting new approaches and
techniques for applying the
elements of art (particularly
color and texture) in ways
that gave impressionist
paintings a sense of energy,
freshness, and intensity.

Impressionism was more

concerned with capturing a
sense or feel of the subject (in
other words, an
“impression”), rather than a
realistic rendering. Thus, this
movement shifted away from
posed scenes created inside
studios to every day,
sometimes mundane, subjects
painted outdoors in natural
light. Among the most
famous impressionist artists
were Claude Monet, Auguste
Renoir, Edouard Manet, and
Paul Cezanne from France;
and Vincent Van Gogh from
the Netherlands.

distorted outlines, strong
colors, and exaggerated
forms.

Expressionism has several

sub-movements namely: neo-
primitivism, fauvism,
Dadaism, surrealism, and
social realism. The Spanish
painter Pablo Picasso was one
of the foremost figures in
expressionist art, along with
Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali,
Paul Klee, and Joan Miro.

Okay thank you _________.

Now class based on what your classmates
read. The impressionism is an art movement
that laid the groundwork for what we now call
modern art. The style, which had its start in
Europe in the middle of the 1800s, offered
innovative methods for using the elements of
art, notably color and texture, in ways that
gave impressionist paintings a feeling of
vitality, freshness, and intensity.

Rather than creating an accurate representation

of the topic, impressionism was more
interested in conveying the subject’s mood or
feeling or, simply, an "impression". As a
result, this trend moved away from set images
painted in studios and toward common,
perhaps uninteresting, outdoor themes. Claude
Monet, Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet, and
Paul Cezanne from France, as well as Vincent
Van Gogh from the Netherlands, were some of
the most well-known impressionist painters.

While the expressionism is a modern art trend

that got its start in the early 1900s in Europe.
On place of realism, it was more interested in
the emotional effect. It did this by using
exaggerated shape, vivid colors, and warped
outline.

NEO-PRIMITIVISM, FAUVISM,
DADAISM, SOCIAL REALISM, and
SURREALISM are some of the sub-
movements of EXPRESSISM. Along with
Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali, Paul Klee, and
Joan Miro, Spanish painter Pablo Picasso was
a leading exponent of expressionist art.
Is it the movement began in

Yes_____
Is it Expressionism?
Are you sure?
Yes Sir/Ma’am
That’s Actually correct, In what year?
In early 1900s
Yes, correct, thank you ______

Class always remember when we say

expressionism it began in Europe in the early
1900s and its was concerned with emotional
impact rather than realism.

Who can define what Impressionism is?

(Students raised their hand)

Yes _________
Sir/Ma’am based on what we
studied Impressionism was
more concerned with
capturing a sense or feel of
the subject and
Impressionism began with
artists who were often
rejected by the well-
established art institutions.
Thank you _________ that’s correct

So Impressionism is an art movement that

established the foundation for what is now
known as contemporary art. The art form,
which emerged in Europe in the middle of the
1800s, provided inventive approaches for
utilizing the components of design,
particularly color and texture, in ways that
gave impressionist paintings a sense of energy,
freshness, and intensity.

What Impressionism art represent? Anyone?

None?

Okay, the thing is, impressionist painters were

not attempting to create a realistic
representation of a person, light, atmosphere,
item, or landscape, but rather an 'impression'
of what the person, light, atmosphere, object,
or landscape seemed to them. That is why they
were called impressionists. Did you
understand? Yes Sir/Ma’am

(One Student raised hand)

Yes __________

How about Expressionism,

sir/ma'am? How did
expressionism portray in
artworks?
Ok ____________ Expressionist artists often
employed swirling, swaying, and
exaggeratedly executed brushstrokes in the
depiction of their subjects. These techniques
were meant to convey the turgid emotional
state of the artist reacting to the anxieties of
the modern world.

Any Question or clarification?

What is Impressionism art
and Expression art looks like?

(Showed Pictures of Impressionism and

Expressionism art)
So, class the Impressionism is an art
movement that originated in the late
19th century in Paris as an artistic reaction to
the rapidly changing urban environment. On
the other hand, Expressionism is an art
movement that originated in the early
20th century in Germany and Austria as an
artistic response to the dehumanizing effects
resulting from industrialization. Thus, this is
the main difference between Impressionism
and Expressionism.
okay sir/ma’am thank you
Do you understand our topic for today?
Yes Sir/Ma’am
That’s Good to hear class!!
Any Question or clarifications regarding
the topic?
Application
Since we are done discussing this 2 modern
art. Get your paper and pen.

This is Individual activity.

I’ll give you at least 10 to 15 minutes to

answer and finish your work.

So the question is “What did you learn today

in our topic?” Write at least 5 to 10 sentences
(Students will write at least 5
to 10 sentences)

As you finish pass your works on my table

E.
Generalization What did you learn today? (Students raised their hand)

Yes________ Based on what I’ve learned

the impressionism art is
more on small, visible
brushstrokes that offer the
bare impression of form,
unblended color and an
emphasis on the accurate
depiction of natural light.
And Expressionism is more
on subjective emotions and
responses that objects and
events arouse within a
person.

(Students raised hand)

That’s Actually Correct, Next who wants to
answer?

Okay____________ Based on our topic today

sir/ma’am Modern art
includes artistic work
produced during the period
extending roughly from the
1860s to the 1970s and

with art in which the
traditions of the past have
been thrown aside in a spirit
of experimentation.
