Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 4

TONELADA, MC JHOVAN
A. Learning Objectives:
A. Describe predator and prey;
B. Identify the predator-prey interaction in the community;
C. Show appreciation of the importance of community interactions between organisms.
B. Create a poster that shows healthy lifestyle, healthy eating habits and stress management;
A. Appreciate the importance of the heart in the human body and its significance on the overall
function of the other organ systems of the body.

B. Learning Content:
b.1. Topic: Relationship of Organism in the Ecosystem
b.2. Reference/s: Science and Health 4 pp. 100-106
b.3. Material/s: Food Chain Illustration

Worksheets
metacards
Computer with Internet connection
Powerpoint Presentation

Chalk
Pentel Pen
Manila Paper
b.4. Concept/s:
Use a series of real-life examples to compare biological interactions and their impact on
organisms. The teacher presents various species relationships and students brainstorm which type of
interaction is most appropriate to represent each relationship.

 Predator- an animal that kills and eats other animals for food.
 Prey- an animal that is killed and eaten by other animals for food.
 Producer- an organism that can make its own food from photosynthesis or chemosynthesis.
 Consumer- an organism that feeds on other organisms to survive.
b.5. Skill/s: Identifying, discussing, explaining, describing
b.6. Values:
1. Participate in an orderly manner for class discussion.
2. Respect the opinion of others during class discussion.
3. Develop the appreciation to the importance of community interactions between organisms.

C. Learning Procedure:
c.1. Motivation/Apperception:
Let the pupils watch for a video showing the characteristics and role of predators in an ecosystem
will be projected for the students to review the previous knowledge.

c.2. Lesson Proper:

1. Use the KWL Chart to track down what a learner knows (K), and wants to know (W) about the
role of predator and its prey. It will be a diagnostic assessment that will enable the teacher to
connect students’ prior knowledge to future concepts. Leave the column on what they “Learned”
about the lesson.
2. Group Activity
The teacher will group the students into four.
Pupils will work together as a group describing what they saw in the video.
Each member will share their ideas regarding the video presented to them by the teacher.
The following will be their guide in doing their output.
 Using one word what can you tell about the video?
 What are the different stages you saw?
 Elaborate the characteristics of predators.
 Explain how this is linked to community interactions in organisms.
 Why it is important for ecosystems to have predators?

These questions will make the students think about the importance of predators. Along
with the video students will review and gain knowledge of the predator-prey concept. Finally,
students will explain in their own words the function of predators in an ecosystem.

 One of the members will present their corresponding output to the class.
The teacher will group the students into four groups
➢Each group will be given cutouts on the structures of the heart/ Circulatory System
where blood flows.

➢The teacher will ask each group to arrange the given cut outs into the correct sequence
of blood flow of the heart
➢The teacher let each group choose a representative to present their corresponding output
in front of the class

3. Discussion:
1. Students will be introduced to the topic predator-prey. A diagram of an ecosystem
will be displayed. The diagram will contain the different types of
organisms present in an ecosystem.
2. Papers will be distributed randomly throughout the class. Papers will contain name
of the component, and others the function or description of the component.
Students are to scramble and find their partner. Components and description are to
be paired correctly, finally students are to paste the name and description to the
diagram on the board.
3. After the students label the diagram they will be given a handout that will
reinforce the content discussed on the board.
4. Students will discuss the Purpose of predators in an ecosystem.

4. Group Work
4.1 Group 1: Draw 2 examples of predator-prey relationships
4.2 Group 2: Pupils will answer questions posted in the meta cards.
4.3 Group 3: Watching a video. Answer specific questions.
4.4 Group 4: Community interactions (Predator Prey).

c.3. Generalization:
Learning Evaluation:
Write the prey of the given predators.
1. Lizard
2. Hawk
3. Spider
4. Cat
5. Crocodile
6. Snake
7. Bird
8. Chicken
9. Frog
10. Chameleon
E. Assignment/Agreement:
Write a reflection on the importance of predators in an ecosystem. Explain its function
in the control of population and the impact to the stability to the ecosystem. Provide
examples to prove your explanation.
