A teacher is the building block on which a society is built.

The responsibility of a teacher is huge as they

perform the job of shaping intellectual and creative minds who turn out to be the future of society.

Nothing is more meaningful than teachers who are laborers – treated more justly in the workplace.
Nothing is as priceless as teachers being considered valuable resources in the country’s national
development blueprint. Unless larger structural adjustments were made, all these tributes and greetings
would be nothing but mouthfuls and repetitious flatteries. World Teachers' Day is an annual global event
celebrated on October 5th to honor the dedication and contributions of teachers. Established in 1994,
this significant day commemorates the endorsement of the recommendation by both the International
Labor Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The
purpose of this special day is not only to recognize the transformative role of teachers in education but
also to promote understanding and reflection on the support they require to fully develop their talents
and pursue their vocation. It also encourages us to consider the future of all teachers in a global context.

The theme for this year's World Teacher's Day centers around addressing the global imperative of
reversing the teacher shortage and ensuring that they have the right educators to meet their
educational goals. In the Philippines, the celebration of World Teacher's Day highlights the noble nature
of the teaching profession and emphasizes the importance of adhering to international standards to
elevate the status of teaching as a profession and align with global benchmarks.

On October 5, 2023, the world celebrated Teachers' Day. The students of APMCians pleasantly surprised
their beloved teachers with heartwarming letters, thoughtful gifts, delicious food, and more. It was a
delightful gesture to express their gratitude and appreciation for the teachers' hard work and
dedication. Such acts of kindness and recognition inspire and motivate teachers to continue making a
positive impact on their students' lives. Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of individuals and
society, and it is important to value and support their profession. The celebration of Teachers' Day
fosters a positive and supportive learning environment, where teachers feel cherished and valued for
their significant influence on young minds. In Dr. Radhakrishnan's opinion, “Teachers should be the best
minds in the country”.

The purpose of celebrating this special day for teachers extends beyond acknowledging their impact on
education. It also serves as an opportunity for us to gain insight and contemplate the support that
teachers require to fully develop their talents and pursue their calling. Let us not only stand alongside
our teachers in moments of joy and gratitude but also support them in their pursuit of social justice.
UNESCO's initial proclamation of World Teachers' Day emphasized the crucial need to acknowledge the
indispensable role of teachers in advancing education and their significant contribution to the
development of individuals and society as a whole.
