PROJECT WORK

On

“Smart Prosthetics”

PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Develop a cutting-edge prosthetic device employing AI and biosensors.

OBJECTIVES:

I. Research and classify different prosthetic devices.

II. To design a prosthetic device employing AI and biosensors.

BACKGROUND:
When it comes to brain strength and neural network, humans are the most
intellectual species on earth. With more than 80 billion neurons and trillions of
connections, the human brain is incredibly complex. Molecular and genetic
expressions, compartment models of subcellular volumes and individual neurons,
local networks, and system models are just a few examples of the simulation sizes
that can be used. Nodes in deep neural networks oversimplify how synapses in the
brain function. The conceptual design and viability of an elastomer-based soft
hand prosthesis with pneumatic actuation for amputees. In order to resemble the
appearance and feel of a normal human hand, hand prostheses are typically made
of stiff materials and covered in a soft layer of skin. This technique produces
intricate, inflexible, and bulky hand prosthesis that are challenging for amputees
to design, manufacture, and use. The purpose of this project is to design and build
a working prototype of a soft robotic hand with individually actuating fingers that
can be utilised as a prosthetic hand. Our concept uses soft elastomers for the
prosthetic palm and fingers on the robot's body.
DESCRIPTION:
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have been technologically
incorporated into the prosthetic and orthotic business as well as the field of
assistive technology, which has been beneficial for people with disabilities.
Leading producers of rehabilitation tools have used the neural network concept to
simulate a variety of anatomical and biomechanical functions of the body's
missing parts. The development of technologies like the Bionic limb, mind or
thought control prosthesis, and exoskeletons has been made possible by the
interaction of humans with many agents, such as electronic circuitry, software,
robotics, etc. This has had a revolutionary impact on the field of rehabilitation.
The use of robots and artificial intelligence has a significant impact on PwDs'
ability to achieve independent movement and improve their quality of life.
Biosensors integrated into the prosthetics can detect signals from the user's
muscles or nerves, and AI algorithms can interpret these signals to control the
movements of the prosthetic limb. This enables more natural and intuitive
movement for the user.
