Verification the MTC:
➢ Hardness test accordance to NACE MR0175 (optional)
➢ Hydrotest: formular, or min. 2500 psi (< 88.9 mm OD), nor 2800 psi (> 88.9 mm OD) → ASME SA-530

Mass — The mass of any length of pipe shall not vary more than 10% over and 3.5%
under that specified. Unless otherwise agreed upon between the manufacturer and the
purchaser, pipe in NPS 4 [DN 100] and smaller may be weighed in convenient lots;
pipe larger than NPS 4 [DN 100] shall be weighed separately.
Each length of pipe shall be legibly marked with:
ASTM A530 Section 24
_the manufacturer’s name or brand,
_the specification number (year of issue not
required),
_and grade.
→ Marking shall begin approximately 12 in. [300
mm] from the end of each length of pipe.
Each length of pipe shall be legibly marked with:
ASTM A530 Section 24
_the manufacturer’s name or brand,
_the specification number (year of issue not required),
_and grade.

ASTM A106 Section 25

_ the marking shall include heat number,
_ the information as per Table 4,
_ the length, outside diameter,
_ the schedule number, the weight class, or nominal wall thickness,
_for sizes larger than NPS 4 [DN 100], the weight.
Transfer markings information to a shorter length:
➢ Verify MTC and pipe section are matched, dimensional / visual inspection
for each pipe.
➢ Transfer original markings to cut off length (unmarked cut length) by paint
marker
➢ Stamp "processor's name or trademark, brand (for resale) on both pipe
segment.
➢ Shot photo of the original markings and new transfer identification for
preparing a report, photo report should minimum show all production
markings, processor's identification, buyer name, date, signature, ... and
attachment the MTC.
➢ Cut the shorter length for resale by processor.
TRANSFER CODE MARKINGS / HEAT NUMBER BY MANUFACTURER
• Code markings: Pxxxx - Pipe.
• Die stamp may be stamped on the thickness with T>= 6mm for carbon steel and T>= 12
mm for stainless steel unless otherwise by supplementary requirements.
• Piping process fabrication may not require die stamp on the off-cut length.
Storage pipe material
- Keep pipe material in dry area, keep away wet condition.
- All end pipes shall be protected by plastic covers.
PRACTICE

Table 4
➢ Review MTC before site inspection;
➢ Update the draft MRIR before checking material, also
assigned the code marking (if any);
➢ Marking the PO number, PO item no. in the MTC by QC
and marking on the production by Store;
➢ Dimensional inspection: check OD., ID. Or thickness, length,
straightness;
➢ Visual inspection for internal, external surface, rust grade;
➢ Verify original marking and compare with the MTC, note to
weight class for NPS 4 and upper, hydrotest values or NDE
required in Table 4;
➢ Marks the coded marking, PO no, PO item no. and Job no.
on the production for identification;
➢ Code markings should be stamped at the end of pipe,
don’t stamped longitudinal direction of pipe;
➢ ASTM A106 is a seamless pipe, not covers welded pipe;
