Instructions to Candidates – Business Communication II (CS2) Examination

September 2023

1. Candidates are required to be present at the examination hall 01 hour before the commencement of the
examination to attend the paper punctually. Therefore, you must be present at 8.00 am. Answer booklets will
be issued at 8.55am.

However, candidates are not permitted to write answers in the answer booklets till 9.00am where the
supervisor/additional supervisor/invigilator will make an announcement “candidates can start writing”.

2. Candidates should produce the national identity card / identity card issued by the institute as a proof of their
identity. In case both the above options are not available candidate should produce a valid proof of identity
acceptable to the Chief Supervisor.

3. No candidates shall be admitted to the examination hall after the expiry of first half an hour from the
commencement of the paper nor shall any candidate be permitted to leave during the first half an hour.

4. Any explanation regarding late arrival, illness or otherwise must be given through the invigilator to the Chief
Supervisor.

5. Each candidate present shall occupy the seat allocated to him/her bearing the candidate’s index number.

6. Closed Book Examination Instructions:

No candidate shall take into the examination hall or retain any books, papers, manuscripts, mobile phone or
any other unauthorized document during the examination. Any such document which is kept under your
desk or nearby must be handed over to an invigilator before the examination commences. Candidates
infringing these rules are liable to be disqualified for this examination and suspended from the Institute
examinations thereafter. Candidates shall not retain any papers, documents or envelopes other than the
material required to answer the particular examination paper on their writing tables. Severe punishments
will be imposed on any candidate infringing these rules and therefore all are advised to refrain from
committing such offences. The Institute will not be responsible for the loss of any mobile phone brought to
the examination centre. Candidates are also advised to keep their money with them.

7. After the exam is started the candidates should not leave the hall without the permission of the supervisor.
The candidates who leave the hall without permission will not be allowed to return and answer the paper.

8. No candidate shall communicate to receive assistance from or copy from the papers of another candidate and
infringement of these rules renders both persons liable to be disqualified and permanently prohibited from
sitting the Institute Examinations.

9. A candidate shall not write his/ her name on the answer script which shall be identified only by the
candidate’s index number which is to be written on each answer booklet and supplementary booklet used.

10. The answers should be written on booklets and supplementary booklets supplied to candidates with the
initials stamped at the Examination centres.
11. The following rules should be strictly observed by the candidates when answering:

a) Write on both side of the paper of the booklet and supplementary supplied.
b) Each answer should be commenced on a new sheet and no sheet to be removed.
c) The numbers of the questions answered in the order of answering should be entered in the space
provided on the cover page of the booklet.
d) Answers should be written neatly and legibly in ink.
e) Candidates should submit all workings with their answers. If not, rough workings should be done in
the booklet or supplementary itself and crossed.
f) No remarks of explanations of any kind (Eg. Late arrival or illness) should be addressed to the
examiners.

12. Candidates should bring their own pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, and mathematical instruments etc.

13. Candidates will be required to place their signature in the signature form in the presence of the invigilator.
The signature form which is a part of the Admission Card sent to the candidate should be duly filled and
certified by a person mentioned there in should be handed over to the invigilator when required to do so. No
candidate will be allowed to sit the examination without duly attested admission card and your national
identity card or proof of identity. Candidates should have duly attested admission card when entering the
examination centre.

14. When the candidate has completed answering, enter the necessary particulars on the cover page of the
booklet, bind them together with the fastener and hand them over personally to the invigilator or remain in
the seat till they are collected by the invigilator / the supervisor. Failure to do so may result in the loss of the
answer script and the candidate being treated as absent for the paper. The answer script should not be handed
over to a peon. After leaving the examination hall under no circumstance a candidate is entitled to produce
any answer booklet, or any attachments to the answer booklets which had not been handed over to the
invigilator before leaving the examination hall.

15. The candidate shall accept the ruling of the Chief Supervisor on any matter arising during the examination.

16. Examination fees of candidates who are absent or fail to sit an examination will not be refunded or carried
forward.

17. All booklets & supplementary which are not used should be handed over to the invigilator.

18. When the Chief Supervisor announced, “Stop writing please”, all candidates should immediately stop writing
and hand over the completed scripts to the invigilator. Any candidate failing to obey this rule shall be reported
and severely dealt with.

19. If a malpractice of any nature is attempted or committed by candidates during an examination their
“Student Registration” at the institute will be liable for cancellation.

20. Candidates should be properly dressed when appearing for institute examinations.

21. No changes will be made after issuing the admission.

22. Candidate should detach the bottom portion of the admission card where the index number is indicated and
keep in safe custody to use at the time of viewing the result in the web.

HEALTH GUIDELINES

The Director General of Health Services has issued the following health guidelines which must be strictly
adhered to by all CA Sri Lanka students (candidates) who will be sitting for the CS1 Examination.

Accordingly, CA Sri Lanka requests all candidates to follow the below health guidelines:

• All candidates must wash their hands / sanitaize at the entrance of the examination centre and
before entering the examination hall.

• It is mandatory for all candidates to wear face masks at the point of entry
(the masks can be removed during the examination and worn again at the time of exit).

• The Institute will ensure that there is a one-meter distance between the exam desks and the students
are requested to adhere to this rule.

• All candidates must bring their own pens and must sign the admission using their own pens.

• A waste bin will be provided to discard used tissues, paper serviettes and other used disposable
items.

Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated to ensure the safety of everyone sitting for the exams.
