1. Were there instances in your life that you hated or like numbers the most? Why? Express
your answers in not more than 300 words.
I was once an “anti-math” student during my pre-school years. My mother was worried before,
and she wanted me to have a tutor for math subject and I agreed. From preschool until grade 2 , I really
hated math. But things have changed during my 3 rd grade. I was able to qualify as a “team quizzer” for
Math Olympics and MTAP. Since grade 3 to grade 6 we didn't get it to the top 10 in the division level, so
I decided to love math and extend to my limits. The time where I started to have my confidence in math
is when my grade 7 adviser molded me to achieve the speed and accuracy in solving math problems as a
key to winning contests, but I failed her. After that, I studied math but winning contests wasn't my
priority not until I reached my 10th grade where my grade 10 adviser was known to train students until
regional levels. I was inspired by my teacher, He trained me more compared to my other teammates,
provided me everything like the reviewers and other stuffs. This time I was so serious about winning and
at last, we won the “Team Quiz” in Math Olympics, Division Level. After that I also achieved one of the
highest scores in MTAP division level, making me a Qualifier for regional math contests like Math
Festivals and MTAP regional level. All in all I really love math after I proved myself during my high school
days. But still, I am not confident with my mathematical abilities during high school as a key to pass my
exams in College.
