Unit 4: Project 9 (page 39).

Describe a product from Vietnam and present how you customise

that product for a new market.

 Decide where you want to place this new store or product.

 Choose a country you know about or use an imaginary country.
 Creat a profile for the country, including information about what customers want.

 Hello everyone, Today I will provide information about a traditional and long-standing type of sticky
/ˈstɪki/ rice in Vietnam. The type of sticky rice I want to talk about today is called "Xôi Xéo."

Describe a product

 Xôi Xéo is a popular familiar /fəˈmɪliər/ thân thuộ c breakfast dish in many regions /ˈriːdʒən/, known
for its simple cooking method /ˈmeθəd/ phương phá p and readily dễ tìm/ˈredɪli/ available /əˈveɪləbl/
ingredients /ɪnˈɡriːdiənt/, resulting in a rustic dân dã /ˈrʌstɪk/ and delicious meal.

 This sticky rice is made from fragrant /ˈfreɪɡrənt/ glutinous /ˈɡluːtənəs/ nếp dẻo thơm rice and mung
beans. To create a delicious package gói /ˈpækɪdʒ/ of Xôi Xéo, the cook must be meticulous tỉ mỉ /mə
ˈtɪkjələs/ in each step, from finding the ingredients to cooking the rice and beans, resulting in a
product with sweet-smelling sticky rice, smooth mung beans, and a beautiful golden color.

 Nowadays, the younger generation is drawn (bị thu hú t) /drɔːn/ to fast food options available at
places like McDonald's or KFC, causing traditional cultural dishes to be gradually forgotten.
 The first step to introducing Xôi Xéo to the current fast food market is to establish a content creator
team to showcase this dish on social media platforms.

 Next, I will not change anything about the ingredients or cultural value of Xôi Xéo, keeping it simple
and traditional.

 In the final step, I will research the market demand, especially among the current youth market, to
adapt the approach to suit their preferences.

Unit 2: Project 10A (page 19). Describe an industry that is active in Vietnam, mentioning the

size, the employees and its economic impact on Vietnam.

"Today, the fast food industry is developing in Vietnam and globally simply because of the need
for individuals cá nhân to save time while still having a nutritionally complete meal to fuel their
bodies. The global fast food industry has grown explosively. Estimated in 2006, the market
reached a value of about 150 billion USD and was projected to rise to 240 billion USD by 2014.

In Vietnam, as of 2023, there are over 300 fast food outlets from more than 30 different fast food
businesses, among the most prominent being Lotteria, KFC, Texas, Domino's, and others.

The entire industry provides significant employment opportunities, offering work for a
considerable workforce, ranging from restaurant staff to managerial positions. This is
particularly crucial given the young population in Vietnam, where many young individuals are
seeking career opportunities in the rapidly developing service industry. Employees in this
industry not only contribute efficiently to serving customers but also play a crucial role in
sustaining and growing businesses, forming an essential part of a diverse and motivated
workforce in Vietnam's fast-food sector.
The fast-food industry significantly contributes to Vietnam's economy through income
generation, job creation, and various taxes. However, it also poses challenges related to public
health that the government must address and resolve."
