Assalamualaikum and good morning to our lecturer Madam Yuslizawati and my fellow classmates.

I,
Nurul Husna, standing here to talk about the black money movie. Let me start by asking you some
questions. Have you seen this film? What do you think when you see the word "black money" in the
title? A little bit about the title of this film, Black Money refers to illegal money that is hidden from
the government or law enforcement. It is often used to fund illegal activities because it is difficult to
track and trace./

Black Money," a South Korean crime drama film directed by Jung Ji-young and produced by Lee Jong-
ho and Kim Jun-young, was distributed by Acemaker Movie Works. The film was released on October
23, 2019, in South Korea and is presented in the Korean language. It falls within the crime and
mystery genres. /

The cast includes Cho Jin-woong portraying the character of Yang Min-hyuk. he is a prosecutor who
is investigating the fraudulent sale of Daehan Bank. He is a man of absolute integrity and a strong
sense of fairness. He is unafraid to stand up to powerful people or to disrupt the established order.
Next, Lee Ha-nee as Kim Na-ri, a lawyer of CK Firm. She helps Yang Minhyuk to find the evidence of
the fraudulent sale of Daehan Bank. Last one is Lee Kyung-young as Lee Kwang-joo, the former prime
minister who is involve in illegal activities such as fraudulent and bribery.

The snapshot of this film is where the Prosecutor Yang Min-hyeok is investigating a case involving
Park Soo-kyung, a bank employee who died mysteriously after being involved in a hit-and-run
accident. As Yang Min hyuk digs deeper into the case, he uncovers high-level government,
commercial corruption and financial fraudulent activity. He also discovers that Park Soo-Kyung was
involved in a secret project to expose the truth about the sale of the Daehan Bank.

** Commercial corruption is a form of bribery which involves corrupt dealing with the agents or
employees of potential buyers to secure an advantage over business competitors.

The fraudulent selling of Daehan Bank to a foreign investment group at a cheap price. A group of
powerful individuals, which government officials and business leaders, planned the sale and used
insider trade and fraud to get even richer. Many Koreans lost their jobs and funds when Daehan Bank
was sold for a low price. The money from the sale was also used to pay for illegal things like bribes
and money laundering.

Yang Min hyuk teams up with Kim Na-ri, to expose the truth. But as they get closer to the truth, they
find themselves in danger from powerful forces who are determined to protect their secrets.

Next, the purpose for this movie is to expose the corruption and greed that exists in the financial
world and to show how the wealthy and powerful can manipulate the system to their own benefit at
the expense of the ordinary people
Next we move to the effectiveness in addressing finance and ethical issue

Firstly: Insider trading is buying or selling an openly traded company's shares while knowing
important information that isn't yet available to the public.

- In this movie, the high level of government has access to a great deal of confidential
information, including information about upcoming mergers and acquisitions, government
policies, and economic data. This information can be used to make profitable investments in
the stock market. They use this information to buy shares of Daehan Bank at a low price
before the sale is announced to the public. After the sale is announced, the price of Daehan
Bank shares goes up and they sell their share at a significant profit. the group of corrupt
government officials and business executives also used insider trading to manipulate the
stock market and make millions of dollars in profits.

Second, financial fraud.- The intentional misrepresentation of information or identity to deceive

others

Park Sookyung, a Daehan Bank employee, sent a fake report to the FSS (Financial Supervisor Service)
claiming that the bank was in financial distress. In addition to this, she was the witness in the case
where the official governments manipulated the BIS (capital adequacy ratio). For further information,
the reason for this is that the Lone Star Fund intended to acquire the Daehan Bank at the beginning
of 2003; however, the Daehan Bank was in better financial shape at that time. Therefore,
government officials asked to produce the fake report in order to acquire the Lone Star Fund.

Another case of financial fraud occurs when government officials establish a paper company, after
which they sell Daehan Bank to Lone Star Funds at a price that is significantly below its actual market
value. Because of this, government officials are able to personally profit from the sale without being
required to reveal their involvement. In addition to this, they used the name of a commoner to
engage in investment activities, and they engaged in insider trading in order to profit from the
Daehan Bank.

*** A "paper company" or "ghost company" is a term used to describe a company that exists only on
paper, with no real operations or assets. These types of companies are often used for illegal purposes
such as money laundering, tax evasion, or fraud.

Next is corruption

Every government, corporation and any organization always not run from corruption. Corruption
is any dishonest or fraudulent behavior wherein someone uses their position of power to benefit
themselves at the expense of others

In this film also represents instances of corruption, such as when Lee Gwang Joo, the former prime
minister, requested the chief Prosecutor to halt the investigation into the Lone Star fund case and
Steve Jung's tax evasion As a reward, the chief prosecutor was requested to be the next General
prosecutor. Before Yang Min Hyuk became a whistle-blower to reveal the truth, the Chief Prosecutor
immediately terminated his employment.

Lets take a look this scene.

Now we move to the recommendation

First, Enhance the character development.

The main characters in the film are well-acted, but they could be more developed. Viewers may find
themselves wanting to know more about the characters' motivations and backstories. This could be
improved by giving the characters more dialogue and by showing more of their personal lives.

For example, Kim Na-ri, the lawyer, a strong and independent person. However, the film does not
reveal much about her background. It would be interesting to watch more about personal life or
what motivates her to do her job.

Second, the film would benefit from additional explanation of the real events that served as its
inspiration. This could help in the comprehension of what happens because of financial fraud or
insider trading on the Korean people shown in the film. This could be accomplished by including
some explanatory scenes or by employing voiceover narration. For example, the film could explain
how the Korean financial system is structured and regulated. The film could also explain the various
types of financial fraud that are common in Korea, as well as the impact they have on the economy
and the people.

Conclusion

The movie Black Money is a strong and thought-provoking look at how dangerous financial fraud and
government corruption can be. It's a professionally made film with convincing performances, a
compelling story, and a timely message about the importance of transparency and accountability in
government.

1. The film also teaches us the importance of financial literacy. When people are financially
literate, they are better able to understand how the financial system works and to identify
and avoid fraud.
2. It is important to stand up against financial fraud and government corruption. The film shows
how Prosecutor Yang Min-hyeok and lawyer Kim Na-ri risked their careers to expose the
truth about the fraudulent sale of Daehan Bank. Their courage and determination helped to
bring the perpetrators of the fraud to justice.
3. Government corruption can facilitate financial fraud and other illegal activities. The film
shows how government officials used their positions of power and influence to approve the
sale of Daehan Bank at a low price and to interfere with the investigation into the fraud. This
illustrates the importance of transparency and accountability in government, as well as the
need for strong institutions to prevent and prosecute corruption.

Black Money is a hard-hitting and suspenseful film that exposes the dark side of South Korean
society. It is a must-watch for fans of crime dramas and political thrillers.
