GENERALLY
A The Contractor shall visit the site to determine the exact condition
and nature of works to be undertaken.
B The Bills Of Quantities shall be read incojointly with the Drawings,

Specification, Preambles and the Conditions of Contract Set in
Tender Documents
C The prices for works shall include all necessary works as

described in Specification, Drawings, Preambles and the
Conditions of Contract. No lack of information shall be
entertained.
D Prices for piles shall include for casting them either on or of site and
all necessary formwork including forming necessary recess etc.
reinforcement, lifting tongles, pile shoes or extension base plate and
extension cap plates all as described.
E Prices for handling, transporting, pitching and driving of piles shall

be deemed to include the provision of all necessary piling
equipment and other plant on site and dismantling and removing the
same on completion of the piling work.
F Piling shall commence from platform level. Prices for driving shall
include for moving of pile frames about the site, raising or lowering
them and re-driving of heaved piles.
G Prices for testing of piles shall be deemed to include the provision of

all pile testing equipment on site and dismantling and removing the
same on completion of the piling work.
H The Contractor shall take note that notwithstanding to term of

Conditions of Contract, the quantities of piling works in this bill are
'PROVISIONAL' and subject to re-measurement unless specified as
Lump Sum or any otherwise stated. The payment shall be based on
quantity of piles driven and valued in accordance to note hereunder.

DEVIATION FROM THE STANDARD METHOD OF

MEASUREMENT
A The method of measurement for the Piling Works is generally not in

accordance with Clause 39 to 45 in Page 20 to 22 of the SMM.
PREAMBLES
B The rate for pay length of the pile shall be deemed to include the
initial and extension piles notwithstanding whether the pile is driven
in singly or cluster, labour and materials for jointing between the
initial and extension piles, shoeing, pointing and wastage. The rate
shall also deemed to include for piling on flat or sloping ground
including all necessary modifications to piling frame to
accommodate stiff or any gradient of slope.
C The type of pile driving equipment to be used for this buildings is of

the Drop Hammer System all to specialist's design and to the
approval of the Engineer / S.O. and Local Authorities.
D For supply, deliver, handle, unload, transport and pitch shall be

measured for the full approved pitch length.
E For driving it shall be measured from the toe of the piles when
driven to the cut of level.
F The rate of every items of piling works shall include working in

whatever platform levels irrespective of either at ground or formation
or reduce level
G
Preliminary Test Pile shall be part of working piles and shall be
installed all in accordance to the specification and as shown in the
drawing. Pile point for test drive shall be determined by the
Engineer / S.O.

BRIEF SPECIFICATION
A All piles shall comply the following requirements
B Unless otherwise stated the design, materials and workmanship for

the precast concrete piles shall comply with the relevant Clauses of
BS 8004: 1986 and BS 8110: 1985
C Maintain load test has to be carried out in Two (2) cycles. The test
load for each cycles has to be maintained for 24 hours. The test
load shall be as follows:
a. First cycle = Incremental loading to working load of pile
b. Second cycle = Incremental loading to twice working load of pile
D The Contractor shall provide approved dolly to drive to the required

cut off levels when instructed by the Engineer/S.O
E
All Spun Pile to be 350mm diameter with working capacity of 65tons
and driven to set. All reinforced concrete pile which driven to set
shall have working capacity of 30tons and all friction piles shall have
working capacity 15tons and driven to 24m depth.

MOBILIZATION AND SITE ORGANISATION
A
Allow for the provision of all necessary piling equipments, plants,
tools and ancillary equipment and for their transportation to site,
handling, assembling, erecting, dismantling and removal on Lump

Allow for moving and handling Drop Hammer operated piling
equipments about the site as often and whenever necessary for the

It is the obligation of the Contractor before commencement and

after the completion of the Piling Works but before casting the pile
caps, to engage a Licensed Surveyor to set out the correct
alignment and eccentricity of each pile strictly in accordance with
Structural Engineer's Layout Drawings or any other layout drawings
deemed necessary and subsequently issued by the Engineer during Lump
