Cat Amigurumi Free Crochet Pattern

This free crochet pattern for my amigurumi cat is a great project for intermediate as well as
seasoned crocheters! If you’re not too keen on color changes, you could also crochet your cat in
one color. There’s a video tutorial on my YouTube channel, in case you need visual guidance!

Cat Amigurumi Crochet Tutorial

If you’re used to UK terms, simply replace sc (single crochet) with dc (double crochet), hdc (half
double crochet) with htr (half treble crochet), and dc (double crochet) with tr (treble crochet).
You’ll need the two latter only for the ears.

All you need to know to crochet this little amigurumi cat is how to single crochet (double crochet
in British terms), make a magic ring, and invisible decreases with single crochet (British double
crochet).

2.5mm / C-2 or B-1 crochet hook

5mm / 0.2″ safety eyes

Fiberfill

Darning needle / tapestry needle

Light pink embroidery floss

Large eyed sewing needle

Stitch marker

For the whiskers:

Thick sewing thread or embroidery floss

St = stitch

Ch = chain

Sc = single crochet (double crochet in British terms)

Inc = sc increase: single crochet 2 in same st

Dec = invisible sc decrease: Insert hook in front loops of next 2 sts, yarn over, pull through both
front loops, yarn over, pull through 2 remaining loops

Hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet in British terms)

Dc = double crochet (treble crochet in British terms)

BLO = back loops

(…) = stitches that are repeated in the rd

*… = number of repetitions

Rnd 1: Sc 8 in magic ring in white (8)

Rnd 2: In BLO: [sc 2, dec]*2 (6)

Rnd 3: Sc 5, sc 1 changing to gray (6)

Rnd 4: [inc 1, sc 2]*2 (8)

Rnd 5: [dec, sc 2]*2 (6)

Rnd 6: Sc 6 (6)

Crochet the hind legs (make 2)

Rnd 1: Sc 8 in magic ring in white (8)

Rnd 2: In BLO: [sc 2, dec]*2 (6)

Rnd 3: Sc 5, sc 1 changing to gray (6)

Rnd 4: [inc 1, sc 2]*2 (8)

Rnd 5: [dec, sc 2]*2 (6)

Crochet the neck

Join the gray yarn at the left corner of the neck opening.

Rnd 7: Sc 1, sc 1 changing to white, sc 3, sc 1 changing to gray, sc 2, sc 4 out of other side of ch

Rnd 8: Sc 1, sc 1 changing to white, sc 4, sc 1 changing to gray, sc 1, sc 4 out of other side of ch

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Crochet the head

Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring in white (6)

Crochet the ears in gray (make 2)

Ch 4, Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc, dc, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch

Fasten off leaving a long enough end for sewing the ears on.

Crochet the tail

Ch 12, sc 11 (start in 2nd ch) (11)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew the ears on rnd 7 and 8 of the head with 4 stitches space in between. Give the ears a little
squeeze to make them nice and pointy.

Sew the head on the neck opening with the white parts aligning.

Sew the tail on between rnd 7 and 8 of the body, centered on the back.

Your little cat is now complete!
