Question 1
On 13th March 2013, CNN (Cable News Network) run a story of an undercover
operation that exposed a broker selling credit card details of New Zealand (NZ)
customers, for as little as NZD$15 per card. The broker, a cohort of Delhi-based
Indian call centre Norton, was red-handed at an up-market coffee shop while striking
a deal with CNN undercover journalist. The broker flaunted his goods, which were a
list of credit card details of certain NZ customers and said he had a large stock of
information on cards. He even divulged that his sources were the call centres that
handled mobile phone sales or phone bill payments. The details that the broker gave
were right including names addresses and pin codes, but the numbers fell short of a
digit. The Financial Time brought out a story that Norton had immediately launched
an internal investigation.
