DANGER
Automatic transmission fluid is toxic and irritates skin, eyes and respiratory system!
Automatic transmission fluid can enter into the respiratory tract and may result in death when swallowed!
Do not swallow automatic transmission fluid.
Wear safety goggles, protective gloves and protective clothing.
Heed safety notes on the automatic transmission fluid.

NOTE
Use only oil types approved by the manufacturer.
The ATF filling level increases with increasing ATF temperature.
Incorrect ATF filling level will lead to faults with the gearbox.

Tightening torques
Self-locking screws and nuts must always be replaced.
Transmission oil control screw (2) (see figure 1) Replace seal(s). Gearbox TF-80SC 35 Nm

Gearbox oil drain plug (4) (see figure 1) with manual gearbox 35 Nm;
Gearbox TF-80SC 35 Nm

Gearbox oil filler plug (1) (see figure 2) Replace sealing ring(s). with manual gearbox 35 Nm;
Gearbox TF-80SC 8 Nm

Replace automatic transmission oil. Figure 1

Drain:

Lift vehicle.
Remove lower floor panelling.

Unscrew oil control screw(s). (2)


Unscrew oil drain plug(s). (4)
Drain gear oil.

Collect drained oil.


Observe disposal regulations!

Tighten oil drain plug(s). (4)


Replace seal(s). (3)
Screw in the oil control screw(s). (2)

Remove hose from gear oil cooler. (1) Figure 2

Collect drained oil.


Connect drain hose.

Required special tools


Drain hose OE (9997363)

Top up:

Remove air filter housing.


Unscrew oil filler screw(s). (1)
(see figure 3)

Top up gearbox oil. (4 l)

Mount air-filter housing provisionally.


Start engine and idle while setting driving position P/R/N/D for approx. 2 seconds.
Cut the engine when air bubbles become visible in the drain hose.

Top up gear oil. (2 l)

Start engine and run in idle.


Cut the engine when air bubbles become visible in the drain hose.

Top up gear oil. (2 l)

Start engine and run in idle.


Cut the engine when air bubbles become visible in the drain hose.

Remove drain hose.


Connect gear oil cooler hose. (1)

Unscrew and remove oil control screw. (2)

Fill in oil until it escapes from the control hole.


Screw in oil control screw. (2)
(see figure 1)

Check the automatic transmission oil level. Figure 3

Remove air filter housing.


Unscrew oil filler screw(s). (1)
(see figure 3)

Mount air-filter housing provisionally.


Start engine and idle while setting driving position P/R/N/D for approx. 2 seconds.
Repeat the procedure twice.
Set selector lever to position "P".

Lift vehicle.
Remove lower floor panelling.
Place oil collecting pan under it.

Unscrew oil control screw(s). (2)


Fill in oil until it escapes through the control hole.
Tighten bolt(s) until hand-tight. (2)

Switch off engine.


Top up gearbox oil. (0,5 l)

Screw down oil filler screw(s). (1)


Replace sealing ring(s). (2)
Lubricate the sealing ring(s).
(see figure 3)

Install air-filter housing.

Check transmission-fluid temperature using appropriate diagnostic unit.


Start engine and idle while setting driving position P/R/N/D for approx. 2 seconds.
Repeat the procedure twice.

Gear oil temperature Test value 50°C


Lift vehicle.
Place oil collecting pan under it.
Unscrew oil control screw(s). (2)

Collect drained oil.

Gear oil temperature Test value 50°-60°C


The filling level is correct when ATF drips out of the control hole.
Tighten the oil control screw(s). (2)
(see figure 1)
