1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Overview
In conjunction with its Sustainable Building Program, the Los Angeles Community
College District (LACCD) is committed to utilizing the tools of Building Information
Modeling (BIM) to execute the design, construction and management of its new High
Performance buildings. The LACCD BIM Standards have been developed to define a
process and establish requirements, procedures and protocol for the utilization of BIM in
the various stages of our projects. These Standards are based upon the National
Building Information Standards (NBIMS) and reference the current technology Standards
developed by the General Services Administration (GSA), the US Army Corps of
Engineers (USACE), Industry Foundation Class (IFC) by the International Alliance for
Interoperability (IAI), and OmniClass Construction Classification (OmniClass) as
developed by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
It is the intent of LACCD BIM Standards to facilitate the use of BIM technologies and
workflow to achieve the following goals:
2.1. Summary
Mandatory BIM Project requirements shall include the modeling, visualization,
documentation and analytic processes of the building design, as shall assist in validating
the scope and cost of the project.
The principal objective of using BIM is to improve the quality of design solutions and the
exchange of information between the parties. This requires collaboration between the
Design Team, the Design-Bid-Build Contractor, the project management team, campus
facilities teams, and LACCD.
All software platforms used for LACCD projects MUST be compliant with:

It is suggested that the teams utilizing Revit organize and “code” the Asset Data using
the objects’ keynote parameter. It is also suggested that the teams utilize the Revit
template file titled “LACCD Revit Template File V1” to organize model objects and
schedule asset data using the template’s pre-made Revit schedules. See APPENDIX -
Technical Footnotes & Diagrams, item e for additional explanation and information.
2.3.2.1 COBie
Team will be required to utilize the COBie data format for adding some of the
description and performance metadata in the model objects as defined in
DES-002-D and DES-002-E.
The Design Team will also be responsible for the export of the description,
performance, and M&O metadata of MEPF equipment from the model to a
COBie-compliant excel file.
For renovation projects, the modeling of project buildings shall be performed based upon
District provided as-built information, as well as field verification and electronic
measurements conducted by both the Design and Construction teams to validate the
level of accuracy.
Proposed site conditions shall reference campus benchmarks, and reference existing
surveys and GIS mapping systems for accuracy. New site and utility conditions shall be
modeled in 3D, and shall coordinate system and spatial models three dimensionally. In
cases where landscape features may directly impact utility and structural systems, those
features (i.e. vegetation, irrigation) shall be modeled with accurate size and clearance
zones.
As the design progresses, design solutions shall be clearly documented and delineated
by the Design Team in the building information model. Likewise, as materials and
components are selected, generic assemblies shall be assigned material properties,
sizes, track LEED values, and other specific component information to clearly define
various building features such as walls, floors, roofs, doors and windows. Program
space requirements shall be modeled in the spatial model and validated using schedules
and other validation tools designated by the District for the specific project.

2.3.5 System Models - Structural and MEPF design
Each building system shall be organized as a separate model linked to a common origin
point or campus benchmark for efficient and accurate coordination purposes. Similar to
the spatial models, the level of detail in these models shall evolve as design progresses
such that these systems are accurately modeled, and include sufficient quantity,
location, performance, clearance, asset data, and LEED requirements as part of the
BIM.
Design Team consultants responsible for multiple systems may include those systems in
a single file with each system clearly identified, as long as each system is able to be
extracted independently for systems coordination.
For building performance calculations, systems must be further broken down in respect
to their locations by the Design Team - specifically individual rooms, spaces, or zones
associated with a system or systems.
The architectural model and drawing sheets assign ‘rooms’ for both schedule and
areas. The mechanical, electrical and plumbing model assigns ‘spaces’ to the
corresponding room areas. The assigning of ‘spaces’ creates a volume to track the
location of equipment and fixtures.
In the case of a mechanical System (ex. defined by an Air Handing Unit), the associated
mechanical equipment (to include VAV, reheat, and diffusers) are assigned to
a System through metadata properties. Once a System is defined, the Zone defining
elements (ex. VAV, sensors, and thermostats) are assigned to a specific Zone through
metadata properties. Finally, mechanical equipment (ex. diffusers, return) which
occupies a specific ‘space’ coincides with the metadata properties that assign
both System and Zone.
The intent of the creation of these views is for Design Teams and Construction Teams to
better visualize the baseline construction schedule and analyze the sequencing for any
projected constructability impacts during the project.
During Design:
The Design Team shall create views within the native BIM to break down (by floor and
by trade) the MEPF systems.
During Construction:
The Contractor shall provide adequate time in their submittal schedule prior to the start
of construction to complete a pre-construction coordination process using BIM for
CPT/PMO review and approval which shall include the following:
1. Constructability review of Contract Documents Design BIM.
2. Construction VDC Kickoff Meeting to review BIM requirements and BIM
Execution Plan with District.
3. Provisions and timeline for development, submission and review of Fabrication
3D Files and continued Schedule-Based Model Views.
4. Coordination and modeling of proposed underground utilities with existing and
updated for any unforeseen conditions uncovered during construction, as
discovered.
5. Identification and review of potential design Changes for approved Substitutions
prior to their installation in the Project.
6. Identification and resolution of potential changes for constructability issues prior
to their installation in the project
Contractor shall provide Schedule-Based Model Views to visualize “snapshots” of
construction activities on site per requirements of the BIM Standards. Additionally,
Contractor shall prepare Schedule-Based Model Views to account for work breakdown
structure (WBS), phases, levels and/or zones, as specifically noted in the Contract
Documents.
The CPT/PMO team may request use of the Schedule Based Model Views as a means
for reviewing construction progress, and submitted Applications for Payment. As such,
it shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to update the Model (and hence Model
Views) regularly for review at construction progress meetings.
Exporting to gbXML - Project Design Teams and Construction Teams shall utilize
energy modeling and sustainable design software that extracts BIM data to gbXML
format for analysis. Reference section 2.2 for approved BIM Authoring Tools.
2.4.1 General
1. The BIM shall be used for all site and building systems design, development, and
analysis, including but not limited to architectural, structural, mechanical,
electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression.
2. During SD and DD Phases, BIM Technology shall be used by the Design Teams
to develop and establish building performance, and the Basis of Design in
accordance with Owner Project Requirements (OPR). This model shall be
interoperable with analytic tools including but not limited to building envelope,
orientation, daylighting, energy consumption, building management system
(BMS), building automation systems (BAS), renewable energy strategies, life
cycle cost analysis, and spatial requirements.
3. Use BIM authoring software element libraries when creating model objects.
Model objects shall contain parts and components assigned to appropriate
Families and Categories as opposed to simple 3D Geometry (i.e. walls, doors,
windows, railings, stairs, furniture)
7. Design Team shall provide awarded General Contractor a copy of the fully
coordinated and assembled BIM (in Navisworks or equal), as well as copies of
the Native Authoring BIMS for each trade (see Sec 3.2.c). These Authoring BIMs
shall be used as basis for the creation of As-Builts and creation of fabrication
models generated by sub-contractors. It is recommended Design Team and
Contractor establish a protocol for digital data exchange (i.e. interoperable file
formats) prior to providing these models.
8. General Contractor shall utilize model geometry and extract graphical information
for generating construction administration documents from the Project BIM, i.e.
RFI’s, Directives, Bulletins, Change Orders. Construction team shall record as-
built conditions in the 100% CD DSA-Approved Native-Authored BIM as a part of
progress submissions and final delivery to LACCD.
9. DSA submittal drawings, calculations and analysis shall be extracted from the
Project BIMs.
2.4.4 Specifications
LACCD will not require direct model linkage to specifications at this time. We may
address this requirement in later versions of this Standard as technology progresses.
Project Locations dimensionally tied to permanent campus monuments shall use the
State Plane Coordinates System, California Zone 5, NAD 83, and NAVD 88.
Project North and True North shall be accurate and easily identifiable in all models and
drawing deliverables.

In addition to these BIM Standards, all LACCD Projects shall refer to sections 2.0
through 20.0, and the referenced appendices of LACCD CAD Standards 3.0 for
drawing requirements.
2.6.1 General
Design Teams and Construction Teams on Projects requiring use of LACCD BIM
Standards and/or LACCD CADD Standards shall be required to utilize LACCD’s
ProjectWise System for file exchange, data management, and submission
milestones. All projects requiring the use of ProjectWise shall adhere to the
requirements outlined within the BIM Standards. However, at the discretion of
each college, additional requirements may be identified within Contract
Documents pertaining to ProjectWise use on the project.
All documentation pertaining to Milestone Submittals shall be archived and stored within the
project file structure with a heading corresponding to the submittal type (i.e. 100% Construction
Documents). A sample file structure is shown below:
The root location (drive letter) of the Project folders may differ from office to
office. However, all LACCD project data should be independent of the root drive
letter to allow sharing between differing office server structures. The Root project
Directory (LACCD) must reside directly below the Drive letter:

4. Project Number
Prior to commencing work, project teams shall be assigned an LACCD Project
Number by the College Project Manager. This number shall be used for
organizing the project files, and should include the common name on the file
name project.
(Example: Mission College CPM assigns the East Complex project a
project number of 04M-418. Therefore project folder shall be named
04M-418 East Complex)
5. Discipline Folders
Each discipline shall be assigned a folder corresponding to a Discipline
Designator as listed in Table 2. All project files received and referenced from
each discipline shall be organized in this folder. As a project progresses, the
contents within these discipline folders will expand, and each deliverable should
be clearly organized in its own folder.

7. Support Files - Standard items needed for the project, such as a project specific
templates, symbols, applications (lisp, script, etc.), logos and graphics. Project
Specific Model Content can also be placed here.
8. Coordination Files – Files for Design and Construction coordination (clash
detection) shall be managed by the BIM Facilitator or VDC Manager, and
organized by date as the project progresses.
9. Other Folders - Renderings, LEED, etc., will have their own folders which will be
populated as the project progresses.
For projects that require multiple buildings, a separate folder structure shall be
created for each building and assigned :

As part of a BIM Execution Plan, Design Teams shall provide: IDM Process Maps
documenting the teams’ strategy for executing energy analyses, verification of
geospatial requirements, project water management, and daylight harvesting analysis.
These process maps shall be tied to specific requirements and performance goals of the
project.
It is the intent that these process maps be in compliance with the Information Delivery
Manual (IDM) published by the Building Smart Alliance.

Design Teams and/or Construction Teams shall establish usernames and passwords for
each individual accessing LACCD’s ProjectWise system.
Conversely, if there is a need to access any non-LACCD provided file exchange servers,
it shall be the responsibility of the Design Team and/or Construction Team to provide the
necessary access rights for LACCD’s users/stakeholders as needed.
3.1 General
The project BIM Implementation Plan, defined below in Section 3.2, is intended to be used
as a guideline to incorporate BIM as an integral part of LACCD's design, construction and
facilities management processes. These standards shall be considered Project BIM
requirements for implementation of BIM processes. Any deviations to the guidelines outlined
herein must be documented by the applicable Project Team, and then reviewed and
approved by LACCD in writing prior to commencement. As technology progresses, LACCD
will work with project teams to update these requirements accordingly. Additional BIM
requirements may be included in the Service Agreements, General Conditions, or
Supplementary Conditions, at the discretion and approval of LACCD Program Manager.
a. Design Phase
1. Design Team shall assign a Lead BIM Facilitator to coordinate BIM
workflow per section 3.4 of LACCD BIM Standards.
2. Designers shall use trade specific analytic and authoring tools to create 3D
models to meet predefined project requirements.
3. For Spatial Coordination, BIM Facilitator will integrate the design discipline
and trade specific models into a consolidated 3D-model using coordination
software (i.e. Navisworks, Bentley Navigator). The consolidated model will
be used for assembling the various design models and providing a report
and view list of design coordination issues.
4. Resolution of Spatial Conflicts: During coordination meetings, the Design
Team will electronically identify, track and publish interference reports
between all trades. All interferences will be resolved interactively by the
Design Team facilitated with the use of coordination software.
5. Prior to each scheduled coordination meeting, an updated clash report will
be issued by Project Team BIM Facilitator to track the progress of
coordination, analyze conflicts and help facilitate issue resolution prior to
construction.
6. Spatial Coordination Sign-off Drawings: Once all spatial conflicts have
been resolved by the Design Team and the structural, architectural, MEPF,
and Civil systems have been fully coordinated, each consultant shall
provide fully annotated drawings of their respective systems in PDF format
for submission to the Architect / Engineer of Record for review and
approval. The fully coordinated model shall be used as reference model for
the construction team to coordinate compliance of fabrication models with
design intent, and shall be updated in a timely manner to reflect design
changes in the field.
7. Building Performance and Energy Modeling – Design Team shall regularly
update energy models using BIM Data as reference. Information generated
from Design Energy models shall be integrated into design models as
appropriate to achieve building performance and energy efficiency goals of
the project.

8. DSA Review and use of digital models for approval will be developed in
collaboration with DSA by LACCD as technology progresses.
c. Construction Phase
1. Prior to the start of construction, Contractor shall assign a Team VDC
Manager to coordinate fabrication models with the coordinated design
model.
2. Construction Trades noted in Section 3.2.4.c shall generate fabrication
models using Design BIMs that have been issued for construction.
3. Contractor’s Fabrication models shall be coordinated with the design BIM
that is based on DSA approved design. Prior to fabrication and
construction Contractor shall report any potential discrepancies to the
design model to Design Team in the form of a RFI. Clash reports may also
be issued by the Contractor as background information for RFIs and
submittals.
4. As part of the requirement for as-built deliverables, the Contractor shall
continually update the Construction BIMs with as-built conditions, including
changes to MEPF systems.
a. Shared File Server - Prior to start of design, it is required that the Design
Team establish their own single shared project server (or ProjectWise “30 BIM-
CAD” folder as defined in Section 2.6.3) for the upload and exchange of digital
models, and the collection of project deliverables at pre-determined milestones.
The same shared server shall continue to be used for the same purposes
during Construction. Models on this shared server will be fully accessible web-
based to all team members via assigned site user names and passwords.
When a LACCD provided shared file server (ProjectWise “30 BIM-CAD” folder)
is used, Project Teams shall coordinate with the District to establish access.
1. Upload Models to Shared Project Server - During the Design Phases,
design engineers and architects will upload their trade specific authoring
and analysis models to the shared Project Server for scheduled
coordination meetings and milestone submittals.
2. Design Models uploaded for clash detection and systems coordination
should be saved in an optimal interoperable format agreed upon by
project team. (i.e. Navisworks accepts several file types but .dwg,
.nwd/.nwc, and .ifc are file formats that are operable across multiple
software platforms)

b. Coordinated Insertion Point – Prior to the start of design in BIMs, BIM
Facilitator shall work with project teams to establish a geospatially coordinated
insertion point for all disciplines to begin their models. See Section 2.4.5 of
BIMS and Section 8.0 of CAD Standards for additional information on how
to establish insertion points.
c. Points of Reference– BIM facilitator will provide a 3D grid for incorporation
into the spatial coordination model. This will provide the viewer with a quick
point of reference when navigating through the model. If room information is
easily translatable to the coordination model, this should also be incorporated.
d. Project BIM Kickoff and Standards Orientation – Upon award of a project,
LACCD shall facilitate a Design BIM Standards Kickoff Orientation with the
Design Team to review the following:
1. LACCD BIM Standards and Workflow process
2. Statement of Owner’s Project Requirements
3. All data developed during the project validation phase
4. Asset Data requirements
BIM Standards will also be reviewed with selected General Contractor prior to
the start of construction as part of the Construction BIM Standards Kickoff.
e. Third party involvement - Project Teams are encouraged to seek involvement
of selected third parties, such as DSA reviewers, local utility companies and
other stakeholders that may benefit from a visual review of the coordination
model.
Figure 2 Illustrates the BIM based coordination process during design and construction phases
As part of the contractor’s submittal for each, the following construction trades
shall provide 3D fabrication models with 3D model objects:
1. Mechanical System Ducting
2. Plumbing Systems and Piping (excluding Plumbing Fixtures)
3. Electrical Conduits
4. Curtain Wall systems
5. Building Envelope Systems (i.e. rain screens, pre-cast panels)
6. Casework and furniture systems (furniture vendor models must be used
when available)
7. Fire Sprinklers (excluding FP equipment)
8. Any additional fabrication models generated by subcontractor
Vertical shafts should also be reviewed to ensure that adequate space has been
allocated for all of the vertical mechanical systems and that all of the shafts line
up floor to floor.
Design and Construction teams shall be required to submit to LACCD for review and
approval, a Design BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and Construction BIM Execution Plan
demonstrating a strategy for using Building Information Modeling to execute project
deliverables. For an outline of required components within the BEP, refer to Sec 3.3a
and Sec 3.3b.
The Design BIM Execution Plan and Construction BIM Execution Plan are required to be
submitted as part of the respective Design and Construction Proposals. The LACCD BIM
team will review the Design BEP and Construction BEP within 45 days of award, to
validate compliance with Sec 3.3a and Sec 3.3b. Design team BEPs must be in
compliance with Sec 3.3.a. Construction team BEPs must be in compliance with Sec
3.3.b.
Design and Construction teams will be required to update their BIM Execution Plans
within 30 days of receipt of the LACCD BIM team BIM Execution Plan review.
SAMPLE
1. Prior to and during Construction, interface with Design Team and/or Campus IT
to establish and maintain shared portal access and permissions
2. Prior to commencing construction, ensures Sequencing and Scheduling is
integrated with Construction As-Built BIM
3. Communicates to Design Team, the data extraction sets required to be
completed by the construction team and ensures that these requests are met
4. Coordinate with Design Team to ensure design changes in the field have been
documented and are updated in the Design Teams’ Record Native As-Built BIM
in a timely manner
4.1. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the Quality Assurance and Validation process is to ensure project teams
are using Best Practices in the development and file exchange of building information
models. Quality Assurance is an ongoing process to be conducted by the Project Team
and validated by the College Project Manager at both project milestones and random
intervals of the project to ensure that each BIM is being constructed in conformance with
LACCD BIM Standards and is suitably modeled for its intended use. The goal is to
detect and correct, any errors and deficiencies in the models early in the process such
that these discrepancies to not result in unresolved issues during construction or any
significant loss of data upon transfer of as-built models and record documents to the
District for Operations and Maintenance use.
During Design, it shall be the Design Team’s responsibility to submit completed copies
of the DES-002 –B ProjectWise Upload / Validation Report and BIM Standards
Validation Report at each project milestone in conjunction with project deliverables.
DES-002 –B is a Report deliverable based upon the BIM Quality Assurance and
Validation Checklist.
During Construction, the DES-002 –B ProjectWise Upload / Validation Report and BIM
Standards Validation Report will be maintained and updated by the Design Team and
Construction Team and submitted to LACCD in concert with Construction update
submission checks. It shall be the responsibility of the College Project Team to validate
the quality of the models submitted to ensure they are in compliance with Best Practices
and LACCD BIM Standards referenced on the completed checklists as follows:
1. Develop and maintain a detailed BIM Work Plan for LACCD approval prior to

For each trade, the trade’s Lead BIM Technician shall coordinate with the Design BIM
Facilitator and/or Construction VDC Manager to verify their respective section of the
checklist at each project milestone. Any major discrepancies or conflicts should be
resolved prior to submission to LACCD.
At each project Design milestone defined in the Document Submission Standards, the
Design Team shall prepare and make available to LACCD a coordinated model to be
used for model based reviews. During Design Development, Project Teams may be
asked to utilize perspective and walkthrough capabilities of the model with user groups,
Facilities Directors, and other campus stakeholders to track design issues visible in the
model.
Prior to submittal to DSA Submittal, Project Teams may be asked to schedule a virtual
building walkthrough with CPTs, Facilities Managers, and LACCD BIM Technical Staff
using the coordinated design model to demonstrate design, coordination, and equipment
access issues have been fully resolved and meet Owner Program Requirements and
Basis of Design.
Component - In Triforma, components are materials that make up a part. For instance,
a base plate part may consist of grout and steel plate components. A single component
may be tied to many different parts. In Revit, components refer to model objects.
Component data can be used for quantity take-offs, specification sections based on CSI
format and even cost data.
G.I.S. - Geographic Information System- integrates hardware, software, and data for
capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced
information.
Industry Foundation Class (IFC) - IFCs are data elements that represent the parts of
buildings, or elements of the process, and contain the relevant information about those
parts. IFCs are used by computer applications to assemble a computer-readable model
of the facility that contains all the information of the parts and their relationships to be
shared among project participants. The project model constitutes an object-oriented
database of the information shared among project participants and continues to grow as
the project goes through design, construction, and operation. The International Alliance
for Interoperability (IAI) has created this IFC data exchange format.
Library - a repository tool for organization, location, and managing of BIM content
Model File - pertains to any building information model where spatial or data information
is stored
Phase - A portion of work that arises from sequencing work in accordance with a
predetermined portion of a Stage.
Sheet File - A sheet file is a CAD file or Model that shows a selected view or portion of a
Model File within a referenced border sheet. Sheet Files are used to generate the plotted
construction sheets.
Finding the Revit Origin and Guidelines for Sharing Coordinates of an existing site file in Autodesk Revit
LACCD can provide Campus Survey Civil CAD files to the teams. The files contain the Campus property line, as well
as survey points representing Campus Monuments.
The survey’s specific coordinate points should be linked “Origin to Origin” to the main Architecture Revit file.
To do this:
Link the Civil CAD file provided by LACCD into the Architecture Revit file.
In the Architecture Revit file, unclip the Project Base point and the Survey Point.
Move the Survey Point in the Architecture Revit file to match Survey Point located in the linked Civil file.
Set the Building Project Base point to 0,0,0
Pin both points (survey point and Project Base point) into the Architecture Revit file, and always use the
command “Collaboration” to monitor the survey point located in the Civil file.
When setting the project base point (once a few walls are in place), make sure to modify the True North view
to be the Project North view.
The LACCD Campus Survey Civil CAD files are located in the “Campus Information” folder (for each campus) in
ProjectWise in the “Campus Siteplans, Site Utilities, Site Surveys, etc” sub-folder:

For As-Built submissions, LACCD recommends creating 2 separate Revit files for the Architectural Model, and
possibly (depending on size and complexity of the project) creating 2 separate Revit files for each of the Trade’s files:
BIM Asset file: Contains the true solid 3D model and all M&O Asset data
BIM Plot file: Contains all annotations, Dims, general notes, detailed views and title sheets. Is used as a
tool to plot sheets and create Construction documents and deliverables.
These files can be built off of the template files defined in: APPENDIX - Technical Footnotes & Diagrams, item e:
The BIM Asset file should be created from the “LACCD_ASSET” template
The BIM Plot file should be created from “LACCD_PLOT“ template
The benefits of working with two files (BIM Asset & BIM Plot) file vs. one single file:
Reduced file size of Revit files
Reduction of work sets
More flexibility to have more than one BIM user to produce documents
Clean, light, user-friendly files that include only the true model(s) while all information
Sheets and notes are not interfering with the constructability of the model
This Diagram represents the suggested strategy of linking BIM files if two Architectural Revit files are used as
described in item c of this Appendix.
Note: the only file linked to the Arch Plot file is the Arch. BIM Asset file.

LACCD_ASSET: This template file ensures consistency in Family Parameters to satisfy Metadata
requirements per LACCD BIM Standards and Form DES-0002D: “BIM Asset Data for Design and As-Built
Documentation “.Use of this template helps teams to more easily define the Asset Data which is required for
model objects. It also contains more than 60 schedules linked to those model objects – to help teams (and
reviewers) more easily identify if asset data is in compliance or is missing within their model.
The LACCD Revit template files are available at any time during the design or construction of the project, but it is
suggested that the teams use the templates early in design. The LACCD_ASSET template will also greatly aid in the
verification of the tagging of model objects (using the keynote parameter). A list of the keynotes associated with each
model object is found in form “DES-0002-D BIM Asset Data for Design and As-Built Documentation - New
Construction and Renovation”.
As noted in APPENDIX - Technical Footnotes & Diagrams, item c: a BIM Asset file should be created from the
“LACCD_ASSET” template and a BIM Plot file should be created from “LACCD_PLOT“ template.
The addition object keynotes (following the LACCD structure) is strongly encouraged to enable automatic filtering of
objects when using the LACCD_ASSET Template. This is done by the assignment of a code into an object’s keynote
parameter (found in an object’s Type Properties). A list of keynote codes to assign to each object type is found in
form “DES-0002-D BIM Asset Data for Design and As-Built Documentation - New Construction and Renovation”.
Once the keynotes are added, the pre-made schedules in the LACCD_ASSET Template will automatically populate
with any user-entered object data specific to the LACCD requirement. This will greatly aid in the verification of the
data required within those model objects.
1. Specify the correct Category for the element. Never use generic models. If you are unsure of the correct
category for an element, refer to form DES-0002-D. Look in the column titled ‘Category’.
2. Locate the correct Keynote code for the element. Keynote codes can be found:
a. In the Schedule Properties of the corresponding pre-made schedule found in the BIM template -
look in the ‘Filter Tab’ within the Schedule Properties.
b. In the form “DES-0002-D BIM Asset Data for Design and As-Built Documentation - New
Construction and Renovation” - look in the column titled ‘Keynote’.
3. Once the code is found, enter that code into the Keynote Parameter field found in the Type Properties of
