The role:

The engineer’s role involves executing earthing design and analysis for HV/EHV substations and
conducting electromagnetic interference studies for pipeline, industrial system and railway systems using
CDEGS Software. Also responsible for performing lightning risk assessment calculations and designing
lightning protection systems for complex structures. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of
electromagnetic compatibility studies, proficiency with electrical power system concepts, and effective
communication with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 Execute earthing design and analysis for HV/EHV substations up to 400 kV utilizing CDEGS &
ETAP Software.
 Conduct electromagnetic interference studies for pipeline, industrial system, oil refineries
and railway systems using CDEGS software.
 Perform lightning risk assessment calculations and design lightning protection systems for
complex structures such as bridges, offshore platforms, heritage buildings, refineries, and
solar power plants using CDEGS software and the DEHN Risk analysis tool.
 Demonstrate understanding of Electromagnetic compatibility studies for substations,
railways, and oil refineries.
 Prepare comprehensive document and drawing packages for project design submissions in
compliance with relevant codes and standards, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
 Conduct internal reviews and quality checks of engineering drawings and design
calculations to ensure alignment with project requirements.
 Exhibit proficiency with electrical power system concepts.
 Understand basic criteria, national and international standards regarding earthing design,
lightning protection design, and electromagnetic interference studies.
 Demonstrate the ability to perform analyses using all tools of CDEGS software.
 Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Graduate/Master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent

Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in a similar industry

General
Job Specific skills:

 Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in substation earthing design up to a 400kV level,

AIS/GIS, lightning protection design of complex buildings and structures, electromagnetic
interference studies for pipelines and traction systems, and electromagnetic compatibility
studies for substations, plants, traction systems, etc.
 Demonstrate the ability to develop complex earthing and electromagnetic interference
models using CDEGS software.
 Possess comprehensive and adequate knowledge of power systems and relevant national
and international standards such as IEEE, IEC, IS, NFPA.
 Exhibit excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
 Possess excellent mathematical skills applicable to engineering calculations.
 Demonstrate strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to project management.
 Demonstrate leadership abilities, including influencing, motivating, and delegating skills.
 Ability to work independently and as part of the team.

It would be preferable if you also have:

 Exposure to ETAP/PSCAD software or other similar software as well.

 Knowledge of Python, MATLAB coding etc.
 Minimum level 1 certification from SESTECH.
 Experience in the design and implementation of renewable energy systems.
