Talaris. The 1.5 pocket design features one full stacking pocket and a reject note pocket, plus a range of
detection and authentication technologies. Being the product that “bridges the gap” between counting and
sorting, Ntegra is packed with features and technology and it is appropriate for a multitude of applications. With

1 Introduction
1.1 Ntegra Variants
This user guide explains the usage and features of all current Ntegra
configurations. Therefore not all of the features are available on all models. The
following annotations will be used for features which are only available on specific
models.

1.2 Obligations of the User


• Everyone working with the Ntegra must read this manual.
• Observe the Safety instructions and warning labels.
• Damaged safety devices such as fuses and warning labels should be replaced
immediately by Talaris or its representative.

1.3.1 Operational Precautions
Installation Precautions
Avoid getting the Ntegra wet
Do not place vases, cups or bottles filled with water or liquid on or near the
Ntegra.
Spilt water or liquids on the Ntegra, may damage the product and may cause
fire or electrical shocks.
Ensure your hands are not wet when handling the Ntegra.
Ensure the Ntegra is only installed where there is proper ventilation and
humidity.

Introduction Ntegra
Install the Ntegra where it has even surface and proper support
Do not install the Ntegra where there insufficient support, or where the surface
is slanted or uneven. Installing the Ntegra in such places may cause damage
the equipment or cause personal injury.
Install the Ntegra where there is enough space
Install the Ntegra where there is enough space to open all covers. Insufficient
space may potentially cause injuries to the User.
This product is exclusively for indoor usage only
Do not install or use the Ntegra outdoors.
Power Supply Precautions
Check the power supply plug and cord periodically
Check the power supply plug and cord periodically for damage. Replace the
power cord if there are any signs of damage.
Do not place anything on the power cable
Ensure heavy items are NOT placed on top of the power cable.
Handling Precautions
If the Ntegra is not working, do not try to fix it yourself
The Ntegra contains no User repairable parts. If the Ntegra is not working, or
not working properly, please contact your Talaris authorised support
organisation. DO NOT attempt to repair or modify the Ntegra.
Be extra careful with your fingers
When opening and closing both covers of the Ntegra, exercise extreme care
( especially with fingers ) to prevent injuries. Also ensure your hands are dry.
Ensure the power is turned-off when cleaning
Ensure the power to the Ntegra is turned-off when cleaning.
Do not use solvents
Do not use solvents such as thinners or de-natured alcohol to clean the Ntegra.
Caution with neckties and loose clothing
Exercise extreme caution with neckties and loose clothing. Neckties and loose
clothing can be cut by the roller and may cause injuries.
Should a necktie or loose clothing become entangled in the Ntegra,
IMMEDIATELY switch off power to the Ntegra.
Except in an emergency, do not turn-off the power while the product is
operating
Do not turn-off the power while the Ntegra is operating. Damage may result
from this action.

Pay special attention to the warnings in this manual.
These recommendations are given to minimize any possible danger.

Warning
The indication WARNING warns you of the possible danger of serious
physical injury.

Attention
The indication ATTENTION warns of the possible danger of minor
physical injury or damage to equipment.

Moving Parts
Extreme care must be taken when working near moving parts. This is
especially important when covers are open or removed and / or safety
interlock circuits are over-ridden.
Never allow tools, finger, hair or loose clothing near moving parts.
Danger to Hands
When closing the upper or middle parts of the Ntegra after removing
jammed notes, take extreme care. Fingers, or other parts of the body,
may be caught in the Counter and seriously damaged. Always check
that it is safe to close the Counter.

Electrical Shock
The indication warns of possible injuries through electrical shocks.

2.4 Feed Gap Adjustment
The feed gap is nominally 0.1mm with the adjustment control at the centre
position. To reduce the feed gap, rotate the adjustment control anti-clockwise to
the minus range. To increase the feed gap, rotate the adjustment control
clockwise to the plus range.
Adjust the feed gap by a half setting, then re-check the feed.

Feed gap adjustment is required for the following reasons:


• The counting of new or mint condition notes.
• The counting thin or poor condition notes.
• The counting of average condition notes.

2.5 Clearing Note Jams

Lift the Upper Cover latch to open the Ntegra Upper Section for clearing note
jams.
Note Jams - Upper Section
Open the Ntegra Upper Section and remove any jammed notes, or part notes,
from the note path. Ensure the idler rollers are free to rotate.
Note Jams - Lower Section
Open the Ntegra Lower Section and remove any jammed notes, or part notes,
from the note path. Ensure that no part-notes are trapped in the note diverter
fingers.

2.6 Cleaning
Routine Cleaning
For optimum performance, cleaning should be performed once a week under
normal usage and more frequently under heavy usage. Rotate each part by hand
to clean its entire surface.
Cleaning is best accomplished using:
• A lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.
• A lint-free, non-abrasive cloth dampened with water.
• Soft bristled brush

Clean the rubber gap rollers, idler rollers with a slightly damp cloth. You may use
a small amount of liquid soap on the cloth. Ensure all soap residue is removed
from the rollers. Allow to dry thoroughly before connecting the machine to the
mains electrical supply.
Clean the glass of the IR Array with a soft brush, then clean both the IR Array and
the UV Sensor with a damp lint-free cloth, followed by a dry lint-free cloth to finish.
Clean the magnetic detector heads carefully with a small soft brush. Avoid
applying pressure to the detector head, this may damage the head resulting in
loss of performance or an inability to function. If there is a build-up of dirt on the

surface of the magnetic head, clean with a damp lint-free cloth, followed by a dry
lint-free cloth to finish.
Clean the display and control panel with a slightly damp lint-free cloth. You may
use a small amount of liquid soap on the cloth. Ensure all soap residue is
removed from the rollers.

Lift the Lower section latches to open the Ntegra Lower Section for clearing note
jams, or for cleaning.

Allow to dry thoroughly before connecting the Ntegra to the AC electrical supply.
If large accumulations of dust or dirt are present, contact your local Talaris
distributor for further information on how to carry out required operational
cleaning.

3.1 Powering Up The Ntegra
Connect the mains lead to the socket at the rear of the Ntegra.
Plug the Ntegra’s power lead into the AC electrical supply socket and switch on
the supply. Press the on / off switch to power-up the Ntegra.
The Ntegra will power up, briefly show the ‘boot-up’ firmware screen and
complete a self test routine while the Talaris logo is being displayed. This will take
about 10 seconds.
The machine will then automatically configure to the last operating settings that
were previously used.

3.2 Stacker Pocket Indicator Light


The stacker pocket has a red indicator light on the right-hand side. The indicator
will illuminate when the first note of a count arrives in the stacker pocket, and will
remain lit until all the notes are removed from the stacker.
This indicator provides an additional visual cue to the User that notes remain in
the stacker.

3.3 Hot Key Functions


The Ntegra navigation key may be used as a ‘hot key’ to quickly change counting
modes, currency, denomination ( when in single denomination mode ), and view
the results of the count or reject reason.
3.3.1 Counting Mode

Press the “UP” navigation key to step through the available ( Ntegra model
dependant ) counting modes:

3.3.2 Currency

Press the LEFT navigation key to step through the currencies registered in the
Ntegra firmware.

Note:

There may be more currencies registered in the firmware than active


counting currencies loaded in the Ntegra.

Alternately, press the CENTRE key to display a list of all registered currencies.

Use the UP or DOWN navigation keys to move the arrow to the required currency.
Press the CENTRE key to select the currency.
Any different currency, including counterfeit suspect notes of the selected
currency will go to the reject pocket.
3.3.3 Denomination

When the ‘Single’ counting mode is selected, press the DOWN key to step
through the denomination values specific to the selected currency.
When the denomination DD is displayed, the Ntegra will read the value of the first
note, and expect all other notes to be of the same value. Anything different,
including suspect notes will go to the reject pocket.

3.3.4 Count Results / Reject Reason

Press the RIGHT navigation key to display the “Counting Result”. This table
shows the denomination value, the number of each denomination counted, the
value of the denomination and the totals in the count.
Press the RIGHT navigation key a second time to display the “Reject Reasons”.
The table lists 14 possible reasons for a note to have been rejected.

Note:

If no notes have been counted, only the Reject Reasons will be displayed.

Further presses of the RIGHT navigation key will toggle the display between the
Counting Result and the Reject Reasons.
Press the ESC/CLR key to return to, or place notes on the hopper to revert back
to the normal operational mode.

3.4 Currency Selection


A range of currencies are registered within the Ntegra firmware, but only
currencies that have an active data table loaded in the Ntegra will count
banknotes.
There are two methods of selecting the active currency:
1 Repeatedly press the LEFT navigation key to step through the currencies
registered in the Ntegra firmware.
At each key press the Ntegra will change the currency name and symbol on the
screen to the next currency in the list.
2 Press the CENTRE key to display a list of all registered currencies.

Use the UP or DOWN navigation keys to move the arrow to the required currency.

The currency name and symbol will change on the screen to indicate the selected

Note:

If the corresponding currency data table is not loaded in the Ntegra, all
notes will be sent to the reject pocket.

3.5 Mode Selection


Depending upon the model of Ntegra, the operating modes may include piece
Count, Mixed denomination value count, Single denomination value count, single
note facing ( Face ), single note orientation ( Orient ), Serial Number reading (
data transmits to printer if installed and enabled ), Fitness ( Fit ) sorting and Bar
code reading.
Press the “UP” navigation key to step through the available counting modes.
At each key press the Ntegra will change the mode name on the screen to the
next available mode.

3.6 Start Mode


The Start Mode is set in the Supervisor Functions. Refer to “Start Mode” on
page 45.

3.7 Counting Speed


The Counting Speed is set in the Supervisor Functions. Refer to “Counting
Speed” on page 45.

3.8 Function Keys


3.8.1 FUNC
Press the FUNC key to enter the Supervisors Set-Up menus. The Supervisors
set-up menu consists of two ( 2 ) pages. Use the RIGHT and LEFT navigation
keys to move between menu 1/2 and menu 2/2.
Refer to “Functions” on page 39 for full details on the available features.
3.8.2 ESC/CLR
Press the ESC/CLR key to exit set-up menus or to clear reject note counts, or
note counts in the ADD mode.

3.8.3 BATCH
Press the BATCH key to place the Ntegra in batch counting mode. The required
batch quantity may be specified using the numeric keys, followed by the ENTER
key.
When in a value counting mode ( Single, Mixed, Face, Orient, Serial, Fit ), a
second press of the BATCH key will place the Ntegra in a ‘value’ batching mode.
The required value may be specified using the numeric keys, followed by the
ENTER key.
3.8.4 ADD
Press the ADD key to place the Ntegra in a count adding mode. At the end of a
count, press the PRINT key to add the count or value to the Grand Total.
Consecutive bundles of notes will be totalled.

3.9 Enter Key


The Enter ( Start/Stop ) key is used to enter data into the Ntegra memory in
specific Supervisor Set-up features.
The Enter key acts to start and stop the Ntegra when operating in ‘Manual’ mode.

3.10 Key
If an Integral or external printer is fitted and enabled, pressing the PRINT key at
the end of a count will transmit the count data to the printer.
If the Ntegra is operating in the ADD mode, pressing the PRINT key will transfer
the count to the Grand Total, and if an Integral or external printer is fitted and
enabled, transmit the last count to the printer.

Note:

The PRINT key will NOT function in the following conditions:

1 When the counted notes have been removed from the stacker.
2 When notes are present in the reject pocket.
3 When notes remain in the input hopper.
4 While a count is in progress.

4.1 Piece Count
Piece count may be used to count notes that do not have currency data installed
in the Ntegra.

Note:

In the COUNT mode, all detectors are disabled.

Piece count may performed either with or without a batch setting, however, if no
batch is set, the count will stop when the stacker or reject pocket reaches full
capacity.
Using the “UP” navigation key, set the Ntegra in the “Count” mode.
If required, press the BATCH key to enable the batch limit. If a quantity other than
the default batch limit is required, enter the batch limit using the numeric keys,
followed by the ENTER key.
Select AUTO or MANUAL start mode.
Place the notes to be counted on the input hopper. In the AUTO mode, the
Ntegra will start as soon as notes are placed on the input hopper. With the Ntegra
in the MANUAL mode, press the START/STOP key to commence the count.
The Ntegra will count the notes, and display the total.

If the batch ( or reject pocket ) limit is reached, the Ntegra will stop. Remove the
notes from the full pocket. If AUTO was selected, the Ntegra will re-start
automatically. If MANUAL was selected, press the START/STOP key to re-

Remove the rejected notes from the Reject Pocket. Re-count all acceptable
notes.
Before removing the counted notes from the stacker, press the PRINT key to
transfer the count value to the Grand Total, and if an Integral or external printer is
fitted and enabled, transmit the last count value to the printer.
Place the next notes to be counted on the input hopper. In the AUTO mode, the
Ntegra will start as soon as notes are placed on the input hopper. With the Ntegra
in the MANUAL mode, press the START/STOP key to commence the count.
Press the PRINT key to transfer the count value to the Grand Total.
Printing and Clearing The Grand Total
To clear the Grand Total ( with the stacker empty ), or If the notes have been
incorrectly removed from the stacker, pressing the PRINT key will bring up the

Press the FUNC key to enter the Supervisors Set-Up menus.
The Supervisors set-up menu consists of two ( 2 ) pages. Page 1/2 lists 9 main
features, of which 3 have sub-features, while page 2/2 lists 2 additional main
features, of which 1 has sub-features.

Note:

Page 1/2 listing is model / option dependent, and may vary from that
shown above.

Use the RIGHT navigation keys to move between menu 1/2 and menu 2/2.
Use the LEFT navigation keys to move between menu 2/2 and menu 1/2.
From either main feature menu, press the ESC/CLR key to exit the Supervisor
Set-Up menus.

5.1 Supervisor Menu 1/2


5.1.1 Date & Time
This feature allows the User to set the ‘real time’ date and time according to their
location.
To enter the Date & Time feature, press the 1 key on the numeric keys.

Although not shown, the cursor starts at the first digit of the year. Either enter the
required year, using the numeric keys, or use the RIGHT navigation key to step to
the date or time that is to be set. Enter the required date / time using the numeric
keys.
Use the LEFT navigation key to go backwards if required.
When all date / time data is correct, press the ENTER key to save the date & time.

5.1.2 Printer
This feature is used to switch on/off the printer if fitted ( both Integral and external
printers ).
To enter the Printer feature, press the 2 key on the numeric keys.
A sub-menu will be displayed.

Press the 1 key on the numeric keys to toggle the Integral printer between manual
printing ( PRINT key press required to initiate printing ), and automatic printing.
Press the 2 key on the numeric keys to toggle the Integral printer ON or OFF.
Press the 3 key on the numeric keys to toggle the external printer ON or OFF.

Note:

Un-available options will be shown in grey text.

When the external printer is set ON ( enabled ), options 4, 5, 6 and 7 may be used
( press the appropriate key to step between available settings ) to set the
communication parameters to suit the external printer being used.

Note:

The external printer must be enabled to permit count data to be


transmitted to a computer based ‘Cash Settlement System’ via the RS232
serial port.

Option 8 ( Default ) will force the external printer communication parameters to


9600 baud / 8 data bits / 1 stop bit / no parity.

5.1.3 Sound
To enter the Sound feature, press the 3 key on the numeric keys.

Adjust System Volume


This feature is used to set the volume levels all tones or sounds used by the
Ntegra.
To enter the Adjust System Volume feature, press the 1 key on the numeric keys.

Press the DOWN navigation key to switch all system sounds OFF.
Press the UP navigation key to switch all system sounds ON.
Press the RIGHT navigation key to increase the volume of all systems sounds.
Press the LEFT navigation key to decrease the volume of all systems sounds.
When all required system sound adjustments have been made, either press the
ENTER key or the CENTRE navigation key to store the settings.
Play Sound
This feature is used to play/test the individual system sounds.
To enter the Play Sound feature, press the 2 key on the numeric keys.

A sub-menu will be displayed.

Press the key on the numeric keys appropriate to the system sound to be played.

Note:

All other keys, if pressed, will initiate the ‘Click’ system sound.

5.1.4 Density Level


This feature is used to set the density level for the detection of ‘double’ notes.

Note:

In ‘Mixed’ count mode, the acceptance of certain darker coloured note may
be affected by the density level setting.

To enter the Density feature, press the 4 key on the numeric keys.

Press the RIGHT navigation key to lower the density level at which a note will be
determined to be a double.
Press the LEFT navigation key to raise the density level at which a note will be
determined to be a double.
5.1.5 ID Setting
This feature allows the Ntegra to given a unique numeric identification ( ID )
number, up to six ( 6 ) characters in length.

To enter the ID Setting feature, press the 5 key on the numeric keys.

Using the numeric keys, enter the required ID number. Press the ENTER key to
store the ID number to memory.
To remove an ID number, enter the ID Setting feature and press the ENTER key
with the display blank.
5.1.6 End Of Day
This feature allows the User to view or print ( if a printer is installed and enabled )
currency totals stored in memory.
To enter the End Of Day feature, press the 6 key on the numeric keys.

The display will initially show the current day and currency totals.
Date
An arrow to the side of the date will indicate that data is stored for additional
dates. Press the appropriate navigation key ( LEFT or RIGHT ) to access the
data for other dates.
Currency
A totals table is available for all registered currencies.

Note:

There may be more currencies registered in the firmware than active


counting currencies loaded in the Ntegra.

Press the UP navigation key to cycle through all registered currencies. Total
values will be shown for all counted currencies.
Statistics
Press the ENTER key to display a graph representing the quantity of each
counted denomination for all dates for which data is available. Each
denomination is shown in a different colour.

Clearing Totals
Press the BATCH key to enter the totals clearing function.
A sub-menu will be displayed.
To clear the total for the current date, for the displayed currency only, press the 1
key on the numeric keys.
To clear all the totals in memory, press the 2 key on the numeric keys.
If this function has been entered in error, and no total are to be cleared, either
press the 3 key on the numeric keys, or press the ESC/CLR key to exit.
5.1.7 Language
This feature allows the Ntegra to be set to operate in other languages ( dependant
upon installed languages ). If a printer is installed and enabled, the print-out will
use the selected language.
To enter the Language feature, press the 7 key on the numeric keys.

Press the key on the numeric keys appropriate to the required language.

On pressing the ESC/CLR to exit and save, the selected language will be used.
5.1.8 Start Mode
Press the 8 key on the numeric keys to toggle between AUTO and MANUAL start
modes.
If the manual start mode has been selected, the Ntegra will only start a count
when the START/STOP ( ENTER ) key is pressed.
In manual start mode, pressing the START/STOP ( ENTER ) key during a count
will force the Ntegra to stop.
5.1.9 Counting Speed
This feature allows the User to set the Ntegra to a specific counting speed for
each counting mode, within the allowable speed range for the mode.
Ensure that the Ntegra is in the operating mode for which the speed is to be set.
Press the 9 key on the numeric keys to toggle through the available speeds for
the operating mode.

5.2.1 Screen Saver
This feature allows a screen saver, either the default image or a pre-loaded ‘user’
image, to be enabled, and to set the time delay between the last Ntegra activity,
either counting or a key press, to the screen saver image being displayed.

To enter the Screen Saver feature, press the 1 key on the numeric keys.

Press the 1 key on the numeric keys to toggle the Screen Saver ON or OFF.
When the screen saver is enabled ( ON ), press the 2 key on the numeric keys to
step through the available delay times. The available delays times are:

Press the 3 key on the numeric keys to toggle between the DEFAULT and USER
screen saver image.
Press the ENTER key to save the new setting and exit to the Supervisor menu.
5.2.2 Information
This feature displays the Ntegra ID number ( if set ), firmware loaded, and the
note count.
To enter the Information feature, press the 2 key on the numeric keys.

6.1 Serial Number Scanning
In Serial mode, the notes MUST be placed in the input hopper serial number side
DOWN.
Using the “UP” navigation key, set the Ntegra in the “Serial” mode.
If required, press the BATCH key to enable the batch limit in quantity of notes. If
it is required to batch by value, press the BATCH key again. If a batch quantity, or
batch value, other than the default batch limit is required, enter the batch limit
using the numeric keys, followed by the ENTER key.
Select AUTO or MANUAL start mode.
Place the notes to be counted on the input hopper. In the AUTO mode, the
Ntegra will start as soon as notes are placed on the input hopper. With the Ntegra
in the MANUAL mode, press the START/STOP key to commence the count.
When a batch or count is complete, press the PRINT key to transmit the list of
serial numbers to the integral or external printer.
6.1.1 Serial with ADD Function
Select the ADD function.
Place the notes to be counted on the input hopper. In the AUTO mode, the
Ntegra will start as soon as notes are placed on the input hopper. With the Ntegra
in the MANUAL mode, press the START/STOP key to commence the count.
The Ntegra will count the notes, and display the value total.
If notes were rejected, these notes are not included in the count value. The
number of notes rejected is shown on the display. Press the RIGHT navigation
key to see the reason the notes were rejected.

Press the ESC/CLR key to return to the value display.


Remove the rejected notes from the Reject Pocket. Re-count all acceptable

6.2 “TITO” Program


The “TITO” program is designed to scan and decode ‘Interleaved25’ bar code
data on documents conforming to the Gaming Device Standard ( GDS ) for size
and positioning, then output the data to a printer, or transfer the data via serial
interface.

Press the CENTRE key to display a list of all registered currencies.

Use the UP or DOWN navigation keys to move the arrow to the “BAR” currency.
Press the CENTRE key to select the BAR currency.
The currency name and symbol will change on the screen to indicate the BAR
code reader is selected.
All detectors will be automatically disabled when BAR is selected.
Using the “UP” navigation key, set the Ntegra in the “Read” mode.

Note:

The COUNT mode can be used with BAR selected; in which case the
Ntegra will count the number of documents processed, but NOT read the
bar code.

If required, press the BATCH key to enable the batch limit in quantity of tickets. If
a batch quantity, other than the default batch limit is required, enter the batch limit
using the numeric keys, followed by the ENTER key.
Select AUTO or MANUAL start mode.
Place the tickets to be counted on the input hopper. In the AUTO mode, the
Ntegra will start as soon as tickets are placed on the input hopper. With the
Ntegra in the MANUAL mode, press the START/STOP key to commence the
count.

6.3 Remote Display


An optional Remote Display is available for the Ntegra, to show the customer the
count values. The Remote Display may be positioned up to 1 metre distant from
the Ntegra.

6.3.1 Connecting the Remote Display
Plug one end of the provided interface cable into the socket on the rear of the
Remote Display.

Plug the other end of the interface cable into the C/D port on the rear of the
Ntegra.
Count totals and values shown on the Ntegra display will also be shown on the
Remote Display; count total on the top line, and the value total shown on the
bottom line.
The data shown on the Remote display can be cleared ( blanked ) by pressing the
Clear button on the top of the Remote display.

An Integral printer is available in specific models of the Ntegra 1½pkt Desktop


Banknote Counter / Sorter. The printer is installed in the lower left cover.
Contact your authorised local Talaris distributor for details.

8.1 Installing / Replacing Paper Roll


1 Squeeze in the two ( 2 ) catches, and pull the printer cover open.

If replacing a paper roll, remove the old paper core.


2 From the paper roll, pull a length of paper from the TOP of the roll, and place
the paper roll on the printer cover.
3 Close the printer cover, ensuring a length of paper remains outside the printer.

To feed more paper, press the FEED button on the printer.
